PixL TV

How does this station stay on the air, It shows made for TV movies,it is all commercial-free and is in a lower package on my cable system. I get it my cable company has to pay a fee, but they often make new movies and they could not do that with cable fees alone. So how does it stay on the air?

This is the first thing I had ever read or seen about PixL TV.

Simple; paid carriage. Like any shopping channel sub-QVC, nobody except for a few are actually watching the channel, but the cable company accountants certainly notices. These days with digital you can throw on a bunch of zero-viewership channels without signal compromises and still manage to come out ahead with paid carriage.

I looked up a few of the movies they list on IMDB. These are mostly low grade made-for-TV movies that never got sold. Some of them aren't even on IMDB! That's saying something.

I think it may be financed by a deep pockets Christian philanthropist who is using the channel as a tax right off.

Apparently, PixL TV exists, depending on who you ask, to lower the residuals that must be paid to the stars of "Hallmark Channel" movies, so that they can be an even cheaper proposition for all involved.

By first airing movies on PixL, then airing them on a Hallmark network, a lower rate may apparently be paid to the stars of the film than if it was first-run on either of the Hallmark channels.
