The other night, I noted the three stars that always remind me of a slightly dogleg three tower array arrangement in the Southeastern sky. The thing I had never noted before was two bright "stars", that were actually Venus and Mars. If we assumed that the stars were a quarter wavelength apart, and the two planets a wavelength apart from the slight dogleg on either side, could we come up with a unique DA design with that arrangement? Most arrangements that I have looked at that were interesting on paper, didn't turn out to offer any useful patterns. Back when AM DAs became numerous in the 1940s, some stations in the central part of the country might have used such a design to have fairly large lobes in between nulls in several major directions.
