Play Ball! New Phillies Shows On WPHT Starting Monday

It's a new season, and what better way to celebrate the Phillies' defense as World Champions, than to add another personality to the Phillies on-air roster... someone whose passion for the team shines through...

Yes, The Big Talker/1210 welcomes Mike Phillips to their lineup! Before every Phillies home game, prior to the "Wild Pitch with Mitch Williams" pre-game show, Mike Phillips will host a live remote broadcast outside Citizens Bank Park on "First Round with Mike Phillips".

Then, following every home game, immediately following the postgame show, Mike Phillips hosts "Last Call", where he will do a live video simulcast from an undisclosed location, and take your calls. The crossovers with Dom Giordano should be priceless.
 
What will WIP be airing against these sports talk shows on WPHT? Eagles talk with Ike Reese in the middle of July, I can only assume.

I'll never understand why Phillies games aren't on WIP. Especially now, with the team actually popular. The pre- and post-game call-in shows make even less sense on a WIP sister station instead of on WIP than the PBP does.
 
Of course, this was an April Fool's Day joke...

The Phillies, opening their season on Sunday night, are off on Monday! So WPHT won't even be airing any Phillies programming on Monday!

In a related story, I read that the Phillies made an "announcement" yesterday that they would name May 2 "New York Mets Day at Citizens Bank Park". Haha!

Harry is still on though, right? Hearing him call Lidge's final pitch in game 5 last year still still gives me goosebumps!
