"Playing What We Want?": Not unless you go to court!

I love this:
“Bonneville is misleading listeners” and “weakening consumers’ perception of the Jack FM product (as being iconoclastic and irreverent) and is tarnishing the ‘playing what we want’ mark,” the suit alleges.

What?
You the mean the Jack product is not 'conoclastic and irreverent?'

So exactly what is it then?
I mean, they don't take requests, and if you call, many of these stations are rude. Why don't they sue the stations that are rude? If you ask me, that tarnishes the image more!

Who is SparkNet?

According to various stories on this, "SparkNet" is a joint venture between a consultant in Vancouver (BC) and another in Nashville.

How did they get in the middle of this? Jack, can you explain? I'm guessing they bought the rights to market the format from BuzzNet Media...somewhere after you settled with them in Canada?

I remember reading that those guys license the trademarks from Big Sticks Broadcasting. Sounds like they are combining forces or something.

The man behind "Jack" himself, the one and only Bob Perry, posted this on the Coast-to-Coast board:

"Let me clear this up. Big Sticks Broadcasting holds the JACK trademarks and licenses those marks to SparkNet. The playbook and consulting comes from SparkNet and they are the company marketing JACK-FM in the U.S."

Big Sticks, of course, is Bob's company. I'm not sure how Big Sticks and BuzzNet Media interact, but that's him. ;)
