Playlist 92.7 has been sold/acquired

I am guessing this would go Air1 for everything stated in previous posts before KLove.. but who knows... I am sure EMF would not mind having KLove in the L.A. market.. after all they have KLove in NYC now.

Two quick questions...

What time Friday does Jill/Playlist disappear?

How much is EMF paying the Amaturos for the stations?

Unless I missed something, a sale has not been officially announced... just talk.

Even Mr. Lycan's article mentions that there is no offical word on this.

There is already a K-Love in the LA market.

Unless I missed something the majority of the staff was let go on November 15th with a skeleton crew remaining. Last day for them is this Friday. Curious about why this is isn't news to everybody yet.

While that looks like a setup for an LMA, of course a sale is not final until it closes following FCC approval. I can't find anything on the FCC site regarding the filing of a transfer application. But an LMA can go into effect with relative speed, and can cover the time when a transfer application is being prepared, filed and approval is waited for.

Second hand information later confirmed by first hand information. And yes, David, certainly the sale can't be closed this week but it is clear the Amaturos are shutting off the oxygen on Friday which, and this is not confirmed, hints at an LMA.

Yes I know.. but not "THE" K-Love... and doesn't mean EMF doesn't wish they had theirs in that market. While one would argue the Fish is like KLove.. it's not.. slightly different Christian AC mix and EMF's main focus is on ministry / connection with the listener.. while Salem runs their "Fish" as a commercial CCM. [Not saying either approach is bad].

"The" K-Love in LA is KLVE. It's use of the name, first in English and then, about 38 years ago, in Spanish. That's several decades more than the EMF use of the name.

Yes, you're correct, KLVE most certainly has the rights to the name in the Los Angeles DMA.

If the sale is final, the station will most certainly be Air1, NOT K-LOVE.

You mentioned 38 years, is that the number of years the moniker has been used but KLVE? That's impressive.

KLVE has been K-Love in Spanish since 1976, and was K-Love in English for a year or so prior to the sale. So it's just about 38 years of use.

Impressive. Nearly unheard of in this day and age. I know K-LOVE just turned 30 so that's why I was asking.

Well, Playlist92.7 is still up and running as of 5.30PM Friday 11/30, no indication on their website - or anywhere else - that they may flip. Billy Bush is on right now (is it VT or live? I don't know) They've stopped updating the live feed on their website that shows the song titles. It's stuck on "One More Night" by Maroon 5, and hasn't updated since I've been looking at it. They haven't even bothered to update anything on their webpage at all since Nov 7, as far as I can tell.

Guess if it flips tonight sometime, by tomorrow my radio will be back to KOLA (*sigh*) and their very limited library. I used to love KOLA but since they went to Classic Rock from Oldies, they seem to have narrowed their playlist and it's very repetitive. I kind of liked the "We Play Everything" idea, even though 92.7 played a lot of songs I didn't care for, at least it didn't get stale. I even heard a few new songs I wouldn't ever have heard if it wasn't for them.

Another one bites the dust
And another one gone and another one gone
Another one bites the dust...

Yes, I noticed that too. It ends on Nov 27 at 11.08 AM, with Colbie Caillat's "Brighter than the sun" (As an aside, I know Colbie's dad, Ken Caillat, for many years). If you check on Nov 28 and 29 it says "no songs were played" :))

and for today it says " There was a problem loading the On Air Playlist, please try again later...". I think they just shut down the feed and said forget it. Interestingly, their OTA signal is not synched at all with the "live" stream online, it's almost 3 minutes behind. I turned on the radio and checked just now and heard the end of a song that was just beginning on the stream. Don't know if this has always been the case - never checked it.

Anyone taking bets on a flip at midnight tonight? :) Or maybe they'll just keep it going with a skeleton crew with VT until the transfer is complete?

the reason they have a skeleton crew is to pack up and clean the studio, and to put in any translator equipment, if they do get any, they just dont have people sitting around doing nothing.

im staying up for awhile, so i will probably stay up past midnight, just to see if Amaturo, really follows through and drops it to EMF, or another broadcaster, ;) ;), and to see if channelflipper, Solidgold16, still have a station to listen to till the end of the year, instead of the usual Christmas torture they have to endure for the month of December. ::) ::)
