Playlist restrictions?

I was just wondering if CHR/Top 40 stations have limitations on their playlists as far as how far back the music they play can go. As examples, I've been hearing a song I can't recall the name of from the late '90s, plus "All the Small Things" (1999) and "Ride wit Me" (2001) mixed in with current hits on my local CHR station. While I definitely like the variety, I just wasn't sure if all CHR's pull somewhat older music from the past and play it as current mainstream music.
