Playoff baseball

Are any radio stations in the Durham/Raleigh area carrying ESPN live coverage of the baseball playoffs? If not, it's a real shame to not be able to flip on the radio and get the afternoon/night playoff games play-by-play this week. I seem to recall stumbling across a few national ESPN games on WRBZ or WDNC this summer.

I don't know for sure if any of the local radio stations are carrying the games, but I sure hope so. I would try the ESPN Radio affiliate 620 The Bull. Happy hunting!

I'm not an industry person, just a listener, so here's my question: are ESPN's baseball broadcasts too expensive?

Here in Durham, you can listen to UNC, NCSU, Wake, Duke, ECU, NCCU, Carolina Panthers, Carolina Hurricanes, Charlotte Bobcats, and the Durham Bulls. We have access to Westwood One's Sunday afternoon, Sunday night and Monday Night Football, and their NCAA football on Saturdays. Yet we can't get the the baseball playoffs? No one in this area carried a MLB team this summer either (really disappointed). So maybe they're just aren't enough MLB fans? And as long as I'm venting on live sports, I miss the Redskins on WPTF.

One of the problems with the ESPN playoff games is they generally will not give a station the playoffs if they haven't aired at least a portion of the regular season - and we all know how exciting regular season baseball (particularly with so many different teams on the ESPN schedule) can be.

WSJS used to carry some regular season games when CBS had the baseball package so they could have the Wold Series. Never had much luck selling regular season baseball.

I heard some Redskins on 750 in Raleigh early in the season.
I know it's not WPTF, and it is a daytimer (which WPTF is north of town, too ;) ) but it's Redskins, at least. ;)

I can't believe that the Bull/Buzz didn't pick up the ESPN games during the season so that they could get the playoffs and WS. That is elementary, I'm sure it's got to be a signal issue. The games are probably on, you just can't hear them. If the Tribe swept the Yankees, but no one was able to hear it, did it really happen?

Thanks for the info about 750 carrying the Redskins. I wasn't aware of that one. I knew they carried St. Aug's sports, but not the NFL.
