Here it comes:

http://futureoftech.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2011/08/17/7398024-non-human-dj-gets-radio-gig

It contains the following:

"If you have a staff of five that is paid $100,000 a year each, that's half-a-million dollars," he said. "The entire (AI) program is $200, a one-time fee. You never have to pay an annual fee. It never has to go to the bathroom. It never goes on an egomaniac spree. It is always there."

What I want to know is where is there a 5-person staff making 100K each! I might be tempted by that.

Well, the search function on this site is horrible, so I couldn't find it, but I predicted this a while back right in this very forum.

It still sounds sort of robotic, but as soon as they perfect this type of software, only the very top level djs will have jobs. The voice software on a Mac sounds better to me. Look up: "Roger Ebert talks about regaining his voice with Macs" on TED.

San Antonio sounds like the perfect place to show it off!!! I predict Clear Channels buys her our for $1,000, 000 on Monday if it sounds as good as a $25,000 dj. They would only have to fire 40 people to make a good returm on their investment and if they could fire 100 people wow!

I once predicted that Clear Channel would eventually fire every employee, replacing them with a hoard of robots, programmed to fire themselves over time.

I'm a prophet.

I just dribbled my merlot down my shirt.

LOL! Too funny. We have a station here that's pretty much like that. It's "Jake-FM". There's a semi-robotic sounding voice, probably a real V/O guy, however, that announces the songs etc. I think it sounds terrible, but the recently had a very good book. Who knows if it's for real or for long...

DE got a two-fer — I spayed my keyboard with sweet tea.

I heard a demo of 'Denise' on the company's website. It's horrible. Better than NOAA's Perfect Paul but still not very natural sounding. There are definitely better computer voices out there like the one on the Mac.

Aha! I found the catch:

"A part-time laborer could be hired as Denise's human assistant, Garcia reckons, for about $10 an hour."

I can name you one chain, and you can probably name me several back, who wouldn't even spring for that much.

Well, that's ironic. The program was originally written to be an assistant for the dj. Now the dj becomes an assistant for the computer program.

By the way, I once "spayed" my keyboard. It kept getting pregnant by the bluetooth.
