I am in the market for a new TV and dont know the first thing about HDTV. Does it make a difference if you are on local cable sevice or just air signal ? Are regular tv's available and then the led, plasma issue, man this is technical.

Should that not happen....
Here are a few guidelines

a)16:9 is the future. Make sure your HD set is 16:9. All Hd programming is 16:9. It will also allows widescreen DVDs to fuill more of if not all of the screen.

b)You may also need a tuner. If you have cable or satillite ,they will provide the box. Comcast (at least in Boston) has ALL THE LOCAL HD channels. If you intend to get channels off the air, make sure you have a GOOD antenna.

There are many web sites iwth good info Try http://buyinghdtv.com

Comcast in the Springfield, MA Area, thanks to SINCLAIR, gets no
HD ABC, because of WGGB-DT's lack of an HD signal. However Sinclair won't allow Comcast to put ABC HD on the lineup (From either WTNH-DT or WCVB-DT).
