How could one station ruin Boston radio? Music on Boston's FM dial is still as boring and repetative as ever. Mike mainly plays music that can already be heard on other stations making Boston radio no more interesting than it was before. The only station I find musically interesting at all in Boston is 1090 WILD. I agree that we do need classic rock and smooth jazz in Providence. On 99.3 Swing FM you have to wait through mainstream jazz, blues, and big band music to hear any smooth jazz and on 94 HJY you have to listen to the new rock to hear the classic rock. We need a solid smooth jazz station and classic rock station in Providence. <P ID="signature">______________
Moe: (Sees a microphone in a radio studio) Ooh, a microphonie!

Curly: Or a phoney at the mike!

Moe: Quiet numbskulls I'm broadcastin'!

From The Three Stooges episode "Micro-Phoneys"</P>

I think Ed Beal's complaint with "Jack"-type formats is the lack of live announcers. Most "Jack"-type formats run without live announcers.

I personally think a "Jack"-type format with live personalities would be a very entertaining and very successful station.

Will any broadcaster decide to "bite the bullet", take the gamble, and launch a personality-oriented "Jack"-type format??

Star 93.7 was a good station that played alot of good R&B music that most ( if not all ) Boston station will not play . Star 93.7 was almost like AM 1090 WILD ( Urban AC oldies Station ) on the FM dial . Boston needa Urban AC on the FM dial . R.I.P. Star 93.7 . Mike = less radio jobs . Mike = greedy owners . Mike = No info on the city of Boston . Mike = The most AWFUL FORMAT THAT EVER HIT THE FREE AIRWAVE's . <P ID="signature">______________
Jack Format is bad for radio .</P>

Star 93.7 was not an Urban AC by any means; I'm not sure where you're getting that information. Star 93.7 was born out of the ashes of the "Jammin' Oldies" craze, and that's where the 70's-and-80's R&B came from on the station.

In it's later days, Star was a combo of Urban Oldies (but the more Disco-like, Top-40 urban oldies), Rhythmic CHR, CHR, Hot AC and Dance. Unlike 1090 WILD, which is exclusively Urban Oldies (and of a deeper varient), Star was targetted at, as someone else posted, ladies from Revere and Medford with big hair. By no means is this the same audience as WILD.

Mike has greedy owners and Star didn't? It's the same company!
