Please put Fox Reality Channel out of its Misery Directv!

Since March 29 FOX Reality has just been running back to back episodes of old originals until they complete the season. Directv please just pick up Nat Geo Wild!

Wait, can someone explain what the problem is here?
I thought DirecTV and NatGeo were both owned by NewsCorp.

Newscorp divested itself of DirecTV some time ago. They do, however, do the marketing support for Nat Geo. You could tell when the changeover happened. On DirecTV's "News Mix Channel" Fox News was the first network to select from. Now they are in true alphabetical order.

That's weird, FRC is still operating in some capacity (albeit completely canned) on cable or satellite TV. Is NGW that bad that DirecTV won't touch it?

Nope, they just didn't renegotiate yet to replace Fox Reality with Wild since it is technically a new channel. So they're 'pulling a Nick GAS' (which Dish Network did for two years) and keeping an endless loop on until they finally get the deal done.

I'd want it done already because Fox Reality is among the biggest cable channel wastes of space ever created. You'd think they'd be on top of this to battle Dish for 'most HD channels' by now.

Wow, I wonder if Oprah Winfrey's new OWN network (which will replace Discovery Health) will get the same treatment from either satellite provider!

I completely agree with you; what a HUGE waste of bandwidth! Bandwidth that could be better geared toward something actually worth watching! Not "reality" shows, many of which are anything but! VH1 and MTV and the countless other channels that have strayed from their original missions already have that covered. Like remember when VH1 was Video Hits 1? And when MTV was Music Televsion? The list is virtually endless! Now look what they all turned into: Wall-to-wall "reality" shows, many of which, as I stated above, are anything but! Maybe they should rebrand to RC1 (Reality Crap 1) and, if the forthcoming acronym weren't already in use by Retro Television Network, RTV (Reality Television), respectively. ;)

This thread had me shaking my head because I thought FRC had been replaced by Wild and that it was dead and [thankfully] gone. Even Fox supported that idea. So, why is this ghost lingering around? Didn't they just replace the feed on the sat transponder?

Why waste the money on a dead network?

It is kind of weird though that they keep running promos for Nat Geo Wild. Right now FRC is running its six oringinal shows on a one week loop, there playing them back to back until they finish a season
