(plug) I'm on WMWM today

A reminded that Bob "Raccoonradio" Nelson hosts the Juke Joint (blues) today on WMWM 91.7 in Salem (sorry, we don't streamcast). I'm semi-retired so I'm only on once every couple months.

Well, one thing good about not streaming is you don't have to follow the DMCA music licensing copyright restrictions on playing multiple tracks by the same artist. You can be free to feature or tribute a certain artist as much as you want (or as much as your station programming allows).

Non-commercial stations that stream nowadays aren't supposed to play more than four songs by the same artist or group within a three hour period (or more than three in a row), or more than three songs from the same album or CD within a three hour period (or more than two in a row). It can make things a real pain in the butt if you want to feature an artist on a non-comm streaming station.

I don't know if the DMCA regulations are different for commercial streaming stations, but perhaps that may be one reason why not very many commercial music stations are streaming nowadays (more commercial news/talk and sports stations have recently begun streaming, though).

I certainly do that!

Couldn't resist: It's fun to stay at the...DMCA, it's fun to... :)
