I am searching for a plugin or automation program (prefer free) that will allow me to playback music files from the same computer with the output going into MBL4. I have tried virtual audio cables from WMP to MBL4 and it does not work. Anybody know of such a plugin or automation setup so I can accomplish this?
 
Virtual audio cable works fine for this purpose, you need to find a different media player than WMP though because it won't listen when you force audio output to a different soundcard.
 
VAC and MBL4 has work fine for this purpose on several workstations for me.

Try using Winamp and set VAC as the output device.
