Pluto TV serves up another batch of 13 Viacom pop-up channels

Pluto TV is getting another boost from its owner Viacom’s IP library as a new slate of pop-up channels from brands including Comedy Central and MTV head to the AVOD throughout August.

On July 29, the new slate launched with three new music video channels - Yo! MTV, MTV Biggest Pop and MTV Spankin’ New. Coming in August, new streaming channels include: MTV VMA, CMT Cheerleaders, Comedy Central Roast, TV Land Sitcoms, TV Land Drama, MTV Wild ‘N Out, MTV Ridiculousness, MTV The Challenge, MTV Cribs and Are You The One?.

The new channels are just the latest wave of Viacom brand networks to hit the ad-supported streaming service.

Note these channels will only be seen on Pluto for now.

Now the NFL channel would be carried on PlutoTV.

ViacomCBS-owned AVOD platform Pluto TV has partnered with the NFL to create a new free-to-consumer channel that will stretch the league’s brand out even further.

The NFL Channel, according to today's announcement, will be devoted to National Football League library content and will “celebrate seasons past” with highlights and full reels of classic games, recaps of legendary seasons, and archival episodes of the HBO series Hard Knocks.

As with most channels on ad-supported streaming platforms like Pluto TV, the NFL Channel hopes to deliver an approximation of what pay TV users find on the NFL Network, without crossing over into outright duplication of the experience and undermining the whole model. That's the hope anyway!
