Great Scott's off air 106.5, which is not a full power class A has applied to move to 106.1, same site at full power. My source says they'll need a new transmitter, since the current transmitter can't reach the higher power.

From what I hear is that the station will be going on the air by the beging of June. The format will be 70's & 80's R&B. Not sure why they are trying this format again since Jammin' 95.3 failed years ago, but thats GSB for you.

I have many fond memories of that tiny little Eastern Shore of Maryland town from back in the day when I was learning right-of-way work, going back more than 25 years. There was a little place in the middle of nowhere, which we called simply "Violet's Place". You finished your search in the Land Records, got your plot copies and deed copies, contact information for property owners, finished for the day, rented your motel rooms, went to the little restaurant in town and then headed to Violet's. She ran a bar where you could order anything you wanted to drink, as long as you clarified your custom order by telling her whether that meant Miller or Bud.

Her bar back was a yard sale. Her pool tables were makeshift beds for people who had too much to drink. She had bedrolls that she made up for just such occasions. She took in laundry which she washed and hung on clotheslines off to one side. Violet also had the best jukebox going at the time - stocked full of everything but country & western, which was quite odd for Pocomoke back then.

When Violet decided she was tired and ready to go to bed she used to tell us to remember to lock the door when we left, or if we were going to stay to be sure to lock the door, so that none of "those bad Crisfield boys" would try to come in or so that nobody would come by after hours and think she was open.

We used to wonder if Crisfield had a place like Violet's where they had the same arrangement for "those bad Pocomoke boys".

LOL

That is going to be a bad move because of WUSH just upgrading their tower in Hampton Roads on 106.1. The tower will have very little power if they are deciding to move to 106.1.

WUSH dosent even reach Onancock, VA (radio-locator.com). Im sure the FCC will make WXSH a directional singal. I hear that the new WXSH (4k watts) will reach just below Chincoteague, VA. I guess we will all find out when the station goes on line sometime this month. GSB is waiting on Verizon for an ISDN line since the studio will be at their Georgetown, DE site (to far for micro dish).
