Is anyone who reads this board planning to attend Podcamp on Aug 8th & 9th? If not, do you know anyone who is attending?

Amusing response. Dumb..but amusing.

I attended Podcamp NY in Brooklyn last Spring and the energy & enthusiasm I encountered there reminded me of radio conventions back in the 70s and 80s. With all the talk at Morning Show Boot Camp last week about how
talent in traditional media need to become more proficient in social media, it's amazing that New England broadcasters don't appear to be considering this learning opportunity.

Did we cross paths at Boot Camp?

If by "social media" you mean "talent should have individual pages on Facebook and MySpace and Twitter" I think you're wrong. Unless you're a big fan of specific talent, wouldn't you just get the station's page "as a friend" or whatever?

Radio does need to do a better job on the station websites though.

K- Never been to Boot Camp.

Smoke- I'm thinking more on an industry-wide basis. There's still too much of a "push" mentality and not enough understanding that the rules
have changed. The concern that prompted me to write on this board is that it doesn't appear that anyone from Boston's commercial
radio community (on-air talent, producers, station managers, GM's) are even bothering to make an attempt to learn from the
perspective and experience of the podcasting community. Everything's changing and their heads are firmly stuck in the sand.
