Podcamp 4 Boston

Is anyone who reads this board planning to attend Podcamp in Boston on Aug 8th & 9th? If not, do you know anyone who is?

CONSIDER ATTENDING!

I can't make these dates, but really WOULD like to do a Podcamp, based on what I've heard from people-who've-attended. I was tempted to burn some miles and do the one in San Francisco, but couldn't clear those dates either.

Note: This is NOT about radio.
It's about publishing online, in various media, often radio-like audio.
Translation: the do-it-yourself special-interest stuff that buffs are passing-around online.
The stuff that's chipping-away at same-old-same-old on-air fare.

Also highly recommended -- and I will be attending -- is Blogworld & New Media Expo 2009 (http://www.blogworldexpo.com/), in Vegas in October. This conference is the merger of two previously-independent shows, one-of-which was the SUPERB New Media Expo that I attended the-first-three-of ("the podcasting convention"). At these events, you feel the mojo that USED TO engergize radio conventions.

With Las Vegas hotel rooms now DIRT-cheap, and those hilariously-low 21-day-advance-purchase SWA airfares (non-stop from PVD!), this might be more affordable than you think.

I attended Podcamp NY in Brooklyn last Spring and the energy & enthusiasm I encountered there also remind me of radio conventions back in the 70s and 80s. With all the talk at Morning Show Boot Camp last week about how
talent in traditional media need to become more proficient in social media, it's amazing that New England broadcasters don't appear to be considering this learning opportunity.
