Police Squad...In Color!

The result of a search for "Police Squad DVD" is that several
sites report a release date (finally!) of November 7, 2006.

Surely we didn't need to wait this long.

I thought they were hilarious, but a lot of my friends did'nt get it.
I guess they did'nt understand "sight-gag" comedy.
Quick, send in a back-up squad!

We no longer have to wait!

P.S.: Don't call me shirley!

Police Squad is a classic - much better than the Naked Gun film comedies, IMHO. The half-hour limitation really kept the humor fast and tight. My favorites - the opening title that satirized the old Quinn Martin detective shows, the inside-Hollywood humor of the scenes with the shoe-shine guy (ie.: Dick Clark buying youth-cream and desperately slapping it on his face like after-shave), and the cliche action-show "freeze frame" at the end of the show, that was really just everybody standing still.

That's "Airplane!" (1980) you're quoting there! Great movie, nonetheless! I own that DVD and would laugh when a station would air it, so I could see the obvious edits.

We know it's Airplane, but since it was Leslie Neilsen who said it, it still works.

Well, in that case, bring on the quotes from "Tammy"!

---Michael Hagerty

One of the interesting stories behind "Police Squad" as most of you probably know, is that John Belushi had filmed a segment as a special guest corpse. Belushi died just before the episode was scheduled to air, and they had to re-film with another actor. Who knows who the replacement was?

What quotes from Tammy (and the Bachelo)? There are no quotes.

Shirley or Leslie.
Both girl's names.

That would be George Stanford Brown, from "The Rookies".
