Political Pundits Are Mostly Worthless

Agreed with that. IMO - pundits became popular with the cable news managers and producers because they fill up a lot of air-time that would otherwise have to be filled with real news, and that means more reporters, technicians, and camera crews out on the streets. That costs money. Pundits are comparatively cheap.

Au Contrare! The pundits are "bubble builders" and absolutely necessary if certain rabid political points of view are to be maintained without respect for facts. What would the dynamic election build-up be without them? Imagine our radios and TVs being free of frothing-at-the-mouth punditry and we be instead forced to listen/watch real journalists who present only the dry statistical and very boring numbers thereby removing all the speculation and excitement from our greatest (well, except for the Stupid Bowl) national gamble.

I mean, where the hell was Keith Olbermann this past election? I almost fell asleep.

ONWARD I say you pundits! Just get back far enough from the camera you don't spit on the lens.

You're right. What a nightmare that would be! ;D

If San Francisco is Supposedly a Liberal area, How come when I look at the radio ratings for San Francisco Bay Area it shows that NPR affiliate KQED-FM and KCBS attracts Moderates and Independents and they are on the top 5 in the ratings . Also I looked at KNEW 960AM they have liberal Hosts but they have a 1.x in the books.
I looked SFO TV ratings and I see that the Fox Affiliate KTVU is Objective in their newscasts and is head to head with KGO ABC7 and KPIX CBS5. Also KQED-TV is the most watched PBS affiliate in California. I understand the DNC has to negotiate with Moderates and Liberals for Local, State and National elections. But As far as I know some districts in the bay area attract more liberals than others like Berkeley and Haight. I like to know if MSNBC is marketed as a Left Wing Network what cities watch MSNBC the Most and Left Wing Radio the Most.

Its too easy to say SF is a liberal area- so liberal radio and TV stations should be performing better. Historically, the right wing media (especially in the past 20 years) has had a much more fervent and attentive audience than exists for left wing media. Fox News gets about double the viewers as MSNBC on any given night- yet more than 50% of voters in the last election voted for Obama. You can chock it up to the average age of the conservative audience, a devotion to media that doesn't exist on the left, and on and on, but its not just a straight forward apples for apples comparision in the media world.

To call an NPR affiliate liberal is almost laughable. At least to real liberals. Stuffy and stodgy is more like it.

There is virtually no correlation between a Fox affiliate and the Fox News Channel. Two different animals.

The reason KQED is the most watched PBS station in California is because KCET in Los Angeles dropped it's PBS affiliation in 2011.

No self-respecting news organization ever markets itself as Left or Right wing to audiences.

People, no matter their political persuasion, just want news, good or bad, presented to them in an informative, non-intrusive way. They'll use their own judgements from there.

A local newsman here in LA once said that if people on all sides are complaining about the news media, then the news media must be doing something right.

True I forgot to Mention that KTVU is a Cox Owned Station. Look at former KCBS-AM and KPIX5 Weather Person Brian Sussman, Currently of KSFO-AM he is a Tea Party Talk Host who spews right wing issues and of course denies Global Warming.

I know Former KGO-AM Talk Host and KGO ABC 7 Anchor Pete Wilson was one of the Few Pundits who also did journalism work. I know when Pete anchored the KGO-TV News he was objective but when Wilson is in the Radio booth he did state his opinions as a Moderate.

It has to be Juan Williams of Fox News who Called NPR "Liberal". Simply Because he was fired over statements he said on Fox News over a topic that Bill O'Reilly brought up.
