Politico, PBS to Host Democratic Debate in L.A. on Dec. 19

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/politico-pbs-host-democratic-debate-la-dec-19-1249983

The event will be held at the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs.
The sixth Democratic primary debate of this election cycle will be held in Los Angeles on Dec. 19, hosted by PBS NewsHour and Politico.

The Democratic National Committee said this morning that the debate will be held at the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs, with moderators and format to be announced later.

The debate will air live on PBS and the PBS digital platforms, and on Politico’s digital and social platforms. This will be the first debate for PBS and Politico this cycle.

PBS affiliates will air the DNC Debate on the 19th.

PBS will get the lowest ever TV ratings on that date.

It depends. The last debate, seen on CNN, had over 8.5 million viewers, more than twice as many viewers as any other cable channel that day. It even beat the baseball playoffs on TBS. The highest rated shows on PBS will typically have about 15 million viewers (Downton Abbey). The lowest ratings for PBS are about 2 million. I believe the debate will do better than 2 million viewers. However, we likely won't see the ratings unless someone reports them (either the DNC or PBS), because their ratings aren't typically published.

Wait don't some PBS affiliates post their ratings though? Wouldn't the data come from the affiliates (Member Stations).

Ratings are not provided to the press by stations. Data is released by Nielsen, and their policy is to exclude non-subscribers. Same goes at the local level.

will the debate wait until the LA rush hour traffic ends to start or does LA traffic ever end?

Rush hour in LA is from 4 AM through 2 AM. There is a lull between 2 AM and 4 AM.
