I'll second that!
“ YOU GIVE US 22 MINUTES , WE’LL GIVE YOU THE WORLD, WIIN-FM 101.1 CHICAGO" <-sounds good! Beat 780 to simulcast on analog FM!
Keep Energy 92.5/7 and 99.9 nights as is..they're doing just fine that way...perfect night/overnight station...dance not financially viable for 24/7...look at what happened to 87.7 The Pulse in NYC...
Keep The Loop as is too, but the playlist should be deepened! (too much repetition!)
So who will have AltRock in Chicago when 'KQX leaves the airwaves? Fresh is now stale..blow up 105.9 for AltRock!!!

A morning news block would make sense, followed by talk the rest of the day. That would probably impact both WGN and WLS. Michaels would be competing with WBBM in AM Drive. This would take audience from all three stations.
BBM will go simulcast on FM if 101 News becomes fact.

Robert Feder says this, but I still have major doubts.
WBBM is already simulcast on 105.9 WCFS-FM-HD2 Elmwood Park, Illinois. But in order to simulcast Newsradio 780 on 105.9's primary signal, the combo would have to add more revenue than what Fresh is already making by itself. Plus, the value ($50 million?) of WCFS-FM needs to be figured into the accounting.
WBBM is one of the most powerful signals in North America, a 50,000 watt blowtorch that can easily pass thru building walls. The station has aired it's All News format at the same location on the dial for 43 years, so everyone already knows where to find WBBM. Also, WBBM is already Chicago's top billing and top rated station.
IMO, a 780 / 105.9 combo would just be a waste, even if the purpose is a counter-reaction of a new competitor with the same format on the FM band.

I am sure someone is already using these calls, but they should try and
get WIOI on WLOL.
WIOI is already taken. Sorry. http://www.fccinfo.com/CMDProFacLookup.php?sCurrentService=AM&sFacilityID=60035&tabSearchType=Faci

We should know something soon as the one more year they were going to give the format on 105.9 ends soon.
radioaircheck said:It's ironic that WKQX will go back to the format they switched from when WKQX first came on the air. WKQX was great when they first came on. The also had a good run at the AC format. I think CBS should put the rock format on 105.9 when WKQX switches. I think it would make more sense than putting WBBM new on FM. just my 2 cents. There will be a void for Rock now. If I were CBS, I would jump on it.
Going back to Nashville said:The mention of the old 9 FM stations, makes me wonder if maybe they will attempt a rock format. I don't see any full signals vying for that demo.
If it was what sponsors wanted, WKQX wouldn't be going away.
I can see 780 WBBM being put on 105.9. That stations time is about up. You also have to consider, no talent salaries to be paid on the FM, no PD, no music fees.
What do they have to lose? If it doesn't attract a younger audience, they can always go back to a music format in the future.
WBBM would do well on FM, it looks like a win-win situation for CBS.
Just to say it again, the time for Fresh is almost up. They are not making the inroads they need to. I think their done very soon, possibly as early as the next week or two.

KCBS is now #1 in San Francisco after trailing KGO for over 30 years. Simulcasting on FM sure helped them.
