I'm just guessing here, but, my best guess is that they really don't care much about these stations. I think
with the lack of ratings, that the three FM's will be sold soon.
Another thing I can't understand is why they put the "NINE" back on the air at WKIF 92.7 in Kankakee. Why not
put the talk format on that station, and put "NINE" back on 99.9. At least they showed up in the ratings with the
music format, and 99.9 can actually be heard throughout most of the Chicagoland area.
I for one am very unhappy with the way Newscorp has run their stations. They claim to be one of the few locally
owned radio companies, yet, they give us very little in the way of local programming. With the exception of WCPT,
their content is all brokered. Even Dance Factory is brokered.
They recently changed WAIT into a brokered religious format, which in my opinion would have made an ideal station
to run a station geared at the older demographic. Just look at how well WLS FM is doing in the key demo's. There is
definitely a hole in the Chicago market for lite hits/ MOR type station, and WAIT would have filled that well.
I'm sorry I went a little off topic here, but, I think this is a very poorly run radio company. I think they should either
learn how to run their stations properly or sell them and let someone that knows how, run them. At the very least, don't
act like you are running these stations with the community in my mind.
This does not only happen on 99.9. WCPT AM cut out Saturday during Dick Kay's show. Dick was speaking to a caller and
right in the middle of the call, the station sign off happened complete with the National Anthem. This happened shortly
before 4PM, and it took them at least 10 or 15 minutes of dead air to realize the mistake.
