Poor KTRS, lost two of their 4 towers

the storms the other day knocked down two KTRS' towers. I wonder how their signal problems are now. I bet ever worse....

Has anyone heard more about this? Did they really lose two towers from the storms? I think they had more power problems in St. Louis from the storms that went through again this past weekend, I know here in Springfield we had some big storms on Friday night and again on Saturday night. It's that time of year. Mother nature doesn't care about our towers and then they go down.

KTRS was non-directional days before the two towers fell down.

At night, they used 1 tower to broadcast in all directions, 1 tower west, north, and south. If anything, the signal should improve in the east and degrade in North, West, and South

In the day KTRS uses 1 tower non-directional. At night all four towers are used. If they did lose two, they would have to operate at reduced power as they still must protect other stations on 550. According to published reports they have to lower nighttime power to 1250 watts in order to protect 550 in Cincy. It will be this way for months as these are 450 foot self supporting towers...not the kind of thing you just slap together. My guess is they have adjusted their phasor under a temporary authorization to maximize coverage to the west.

It will be interesting to see what happens in Sept when night games start and end after local sunset.

yeah, it will be interesting to see how they do in the fall with cards with the signal issues. but they had a great spring book.

yes they will have a few issues in the fall, when the days get shorter and full power will be less and less, so I assume, they must power down at sunset, so at 4:15 in say Nov-Feb but baseball will be over by that extreme.

Based on the calendar, it looks like sunset in STL in September is around 715p. Based on their schedule 16 of their September games start at either 610p or 710p. Might be a problem.
