Emmanuel is doing OK, based on the last updates I've heard...however, Demond Wilson is more of a candidate for homelessness!

Interesting story about Johnny Brown and Sanford & Son. I liked Brown on Laugh-In but after his run was over he kind of disappeared. Foxx may have given him more exposure and a longer career.

I'm happy to say that Johnny Brown is alive, well, and still acting. He's appeared in numerous guest shots on UPN/CW sitcoms, and earlier this year appeared on an episode of Everybody Hates Chris.

Personal footnote: Johnny Brown & I shop at the same supermarket. I've seen and talked to him numerous times, and if he isn't Mr. Nice Guy, he's sure doing a good imitation of one. He's always gracious with fans when he gets recognized, and is happy to sign autographs.

Mr. Nice Guy is exactly the persona he portrayed on Laugh-In and I would have expected to recognize him immediately in person on the street. Glad you have that opinion.

I looked through IMDB and realized I had never watched even one of the projects he was in since Laugh-In. He does seem to have had a good, and busy, career though. I'm going to have to break out my old copy of The Out of Towners and see if I can find him.

Rollo, Grady, Aunt Esther(& entourage of church women), Julio & the cops(Smitty & Hoppy) that popped in seemed to act okay...It seemed though that the lady that played Donna (fred's nurse girlfriend) wasn't too hot an actress...plus she was too young & pretty for her rola as an aged junk dealer's girlfriend. Once that Little John guy came along the show went down the drain.

And the woman who used to play the M.E.? Some of the corpses showed more emotion.

The only good thing on the show are the outdoor scenes sans the actors!!

...it seems to me that Sanford & Son was never particularly well acted. Johnny Brown had been Redd Foxx's original preference to play Lamont, but he'd signed on to do Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In before the offer arrived, so Demond Wilson got the gig instead; unfortunately, the show was carried entirely by Foxx's and the supporting players' personalities, and there was never a good chemistry between Foxx and Wilson...

I thought that in the early years that Lamont was grouchy all the time especially to Donna, but around the 4th season or so, Lamont was nicer to Donna and others. Then in the last season, in several episodes, Lamont was wearing sunglasses in the house, allegedly Demond Wilson was doing drugs in real life at that time, so the sunglasses were used to hide his bloodshot eyes.

    In the early-mid 1980's, He had supposedly found God and was making several appearances on WDLI-TV 17 in Canton, Ohio (Formerly WJAN) with the station owner, Rev. Lonnie Rex..This was before the station was sold to TBN in 1986
