"Pop" in Audition Record Mode

Is there any way to do a fade out effect in Adobe Audition/Cool Edit like on Magix Audio Cleaning Lab has? I am having problems with "pops" at the beginning and the end of tracks I record in Mixdown mode using the microphone and the sound card. When I try to highlight and cut the pops out, new ones just take their place. So I'm thinking fading would help get rid of it. It sounds unprofessional and is irritating.

Did you try using the Click Pop eliminator function available?, if it's a definite BIG POP, there is a problem with your sound card, the Click Pop eliminator will take most if not all the pop out.

I had the same problem using the Dell Turtle card that came with my pc. Dell's soundcards are not meant for pro use. I got an Echo Mia for about $150. No issues. If you have the budget I recommend either a Lynx or a Card Deluxe. My next card will be a Card D.<P ID="signature">______________

Woody,

Why the Card D? I'm just curious. That's what we have throughout our station group here, but it looks to me like the Echo Mia has better specs and the Card D's are expensive. I haven't been overly impressed with them here at work...They seem to have some latency issues and crash with multiple audio streams from different devices (which isn't too uncommon, but the Card Deluxe crashes bad). So what is it that makes you like them more than the Echo? Maybe I'm missing something.

Back to the original question...Check your settings and make sure both "Auto Zero Cross Edits" and "Snap to Zero Crossings" are active. If nothing else, there's a "smooth ends" preset under Effects > Amplitude > Envelope.

Used the Card D while at CC Raleigh for years. In fact, most of the prod studios had the Card D. Never had an issue with it. It has balanced in's and out's, plus XLR. Also used the Digigram card on the same machine. Also a workhorse.

Card D isn't that much. About $350-400.

Yeah, all of our prod studios have Card Deluxe and computers (other than automation) in our air studios have either Card Deluxe or the old ISA CardD Plus. I've never used the Digigram or Lynx. What don't you like about the Mia? No XLR?

Echo Mia is fine for the price ($150). I really have no issues overall. In fact, I turned the engineer here at work onto the Mia and he's since bought it for all the prod studios.

I do VO and produce from home and all is good with the Mia. But I do believe XLR, along with multiple balanced in's and out's would be better.<P ID="signature">______________

But back to the "Pop" in Audition Record Mode

Have you checked the DC offset box in Audition?..if it's not checked..try that..and if it is..try un-checking it. It's in "Setings"

BTW> I will have a Card Deluxe available for 200 bucks in a few weeks. We're going to the Delta 44 cards.
