Pop Radio to wake up

Since Fly 92.3 and Kiss 102.3 are down in the ratings, when will they wake up and put real dance music on the playlist?

Why won't they admit that they need to put dance music and real dance mixshows on the stations?

I wonder if they both have the intelligence to put underground dance music in the mixshows?

The rap and urban stuff on the playlist is making the ratings anchor for pop radio.

Tell me if I am wrong

Heh,they are both trash and wouldnt be missed if they left the air ;D (Especially 102.3 with all that hip hop garbage)

First, because they have no clue what REAL dance music is in the Albany Market and second, because don't you know?....Rock Rules in Albany, Man!!!! It goes great with that 12 -pack and a pack of smokes and my RSUH t-shirt, dude!!!!!!

Pathetic!!!!! No wonder that market is considered radio trash!!!! Get rid of all your radio PERSONALITIES in the last five years and stick in low-price talentless chumps!!!

Except for Kiss-FM in Poughkeepsie at 96.1 with all the hip-hop and rap garbage, bring dance music back to 96.1 like the way it sounded back in 2001.

You mean when it had half the ratings of WSPK in 2001, Disney? Your personal tastes in music have nothing to do with ANYTHING when it comes to strategically postioning a station.

And as far as dance music goes, other than an occasional hit, it has shown no ability to pull ratings as a format anywhere in the US. There are only a small handfull of Mediabase dance stations in the US and the ratings they pull are not stellar. The occassional Cascada track is just seasoning for the pop sauce.

Mixshows? Maybe you can do those, but there is no familiarity for the music with the audience. Playing obscure stuff for three hours on a Saturday night desn't make it familliar. Plus: most of the listening audience doesn't listen to be educated by what a dance purist thinks is great radio--they tune in for instant gratification. The songs they want when they want them.

I DO NOT HATE dance music, but I am able to step back and be realistic about it's potential.

I always thought a KTU dance format like station would be good for the Albany/Hudson Valley area...but i also feel that if there was a strong demand for one then there would be one...or Kiss and Fly and others like K-104 would be doing it. I am also curious as to why some on here are always hard on the Albany radio market. I live in Orange so i am pretty much out of the listening range of most Albany stations..but am through the area often and also listen online especially to JAMZ 96.3 or B95.5. (yeah i am aware thats a huge swing in musical tastes ;) ) but i have personally liked the Albany radio stations. Someone care to point out the beef they have...maybe I am missing something??

I know. but according to the fall Arbitrons 5 years later, WSPK is #1 in the Poughkeepsie ratings, but "Kiss" is #2.

So Kiss was more successful was more successful when it dropped the dance music. Thank you for proving my point.
