PORNO STAR (RADIO EDIT)

OK, so I've been sent this brand new rhythmic r&b / hip hop styled song, that may possibly become a future hit, and have been asked to get some opinions and thoughts from people, so I thought, "why not just come straight to the source?"

Being completely unbiased myself, I want YOU to please hear this new track and let me know what you think, in terms of how much of a chance it has on radio...etc. The song is called PORNO STAR (RADIO EDIT) Here's the link: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewProfile&friendID=24058624

Please listen and be as open and brutally honest as possible with your suggestions, comments, etc. within the topic of this song.

Thanks.

Just a radio/music fan's opinion...

Agree with Bigtime Bowler; average song, fair to good, title is a bit "stronger" than what the lyrics represent (I think we've all heard much more salacious material than this - 2Live Crew, anyone?!). Minor hit that might scrape the bottom of the R & B/Hip-Hop Charts.

Having said that...watch it go Top 3! Ya just never know...

Thanks for the opportunity to listen.

I like it a little, it could grow on me.. i think it could do good on Rhythmic/Urban stations, and rhythmic leaning CHRs like Channel 955 Detroit ETC.... but with the song title, It probably wouldnt have a chance with out older audience,,,,, but at most, id put it in low b position for nights and weekends,,, not a 9-5 workday record... Im actually trying to move away from the slower Dingy Hip Hop records, and our TSL has improved. Our audience is showing more interest in Dance Rhythmic POP..AKA Lady GAGA/Britney/Pink/Kid Cudi/Akon ETC,, so im gonna give them what they want,, nice upbeat records that dont offend the Soccer MOMs with the 8 yr old in the car, and some crossover Rock, and Dance Remixes. ETC.... On the other hand, if I worked up the road at Radio Ones WNOU-Radio Now 100.9,, I would jump on this if it started to get rhythmic airplay,,, or Hot 107.9 Atlanta...ETC.... But its gonna be hard to fit this kinda record in, when im trying to ignore ghetto slow hip hop stiffs that others jumped on,,, I refused to play LIL Wayne-Mrs Officer, and it turned out to be a flop at CHR, so I was right.

If they release this, it won't do much on CHR. It's a rhythmic tune though. It reminds me of a Lil Rob song that will maybe peak top 30 on rhythmic. It's not bad to test. But it IS a indie label. I'd spin it though and let them know you're showing em support. Do a PUMP IT OR DUMP IT

We're in an upper Midwest Bible belt, but if we did add it, it would be nights/weekends only rotation.  It could work on rhythmics and urbans (as well as rhythm leaners) as CLubber states.  We do TAG IT or BAG IT use it to keep songs on my radar.  And the problem with indie labels is that that most programmers won't pay attention to it.  There is a lot of crap out there, but not all of it is discardable.  Kasper From the K "WhatChaGonDo" was a surefire smash here, it samples Animotion "Obsession," and could be a national hit if it's given the chance.

Great replies! There are a few things I am dying to say, but... I'm going to continue to remain silent and unbiased for now as not to sway or alter any future opinions that may arise.

However, I will provide a link to a past album that was produced by the same guy, which in my opinion was one of the best r&b/electro-freestyle albums to be released this decade, despite the fact many things didn't work out. Since the website seems to be gone, here's where you can listen: www.imeem.com/infamouslover

Be sure to listen to the tracks

1. Infamous lover
2. Search Within

I believe at least one of those two songs (or one of the others) would get some attention on rhythm / dance radio (or at least in mix shows) and could have done so much better only if more people were exposed.
