Port O Connor Reception & Houston

I never understood why I could get Houston radio so much better in Port O connor than in Lavaca county? Its crisp most of the time out in the waters. I can even pick up K-hits good. I dont think HD will work out there, but FM analog flies clean out there. Even better than Victoria stations. 98.7 use to be ok out there but now they are silent. KIXS is the clearest from Victoria.
 
I take my dogs down there sometimes and am always amazed by how great the Houston stations sound and how bad the Corpus Christi stations sound even though they are significantly closer. I guess maybe it has something to do with signals bouncing off of water ???.
