Anyone know if there is a transistor radio type hand held portable unit for picking up Sirius/Xm?

I don't want to be tied down to my car or some bulky boom box type unit in order to listen.

I think the model name is "Stiletto" - it's supposed to be like, as i call it, a Walkman for your Sirius/radio...it goes for like $329 but you could probably get it for about $250 to $279 or even a bit less if you look around...

Andrea

Andrea, you should get a XM pioneer inno. the stiletto has bad reception and the battery doesn't last as long. you can record 100 hours on the stiletto, 50 hours on XM inno. the battery on xm lasts 12 hours if you turn the light off. the stilleto only last 5 to 6 hours. you can also get the best of sirius on the inno.

That Pioneer unit is pretty sweet. It saves and plays WMA and MP3 files, too...

I have an older Stiletto that is still serving me well. I dock it at home and in the car and while at home I automatically record my favorite shows which I playback later walkman style. I can pickup Sirius live with the antenna headset but I find the times I use it as a portable are always indoors. Battery life has not been an issue since I never use it portable for more than an hour or two at a time anyway.

Do these units work without a special antenna?
At one time if you listened inside you had to have an antenna out the window facing south or southwest.

I tested the stiletto for week. The headset has an antenna built in but its absolutely useless indoors even if you are sitting next to a window.

Its been my experience that you always need an external antenna for Sirius radios. I've been through 3 of them.

I'm still trying decide whether to try that XM Inno or go the cellie route. Besides the iPhone I understand Pantech phones stream XM but there's little online information.
