portable digital recorder recommendation?

Hi guys

I recently bought myself the Tascam DR-05 portable recorder hoping to use it for DX recordings out in the field. But to my disappointment, it generates so much QRM, it effectively jams the whole FM band - disgusting  - pity as its a high quality recorder that can do wav format.

I also have an Olympus WS-510M & produces annoying "ticks" on the FM band & can only record in WMA format.....

I like the idea that one can simply copy the recorded files to PCs once I get home without having to re-record the whole stuff again at 1x to the PC.

So, any suggestions out there on a good recorder (currently available new) that doesn't create any QRM (remember, I an DXing for weak FM signals). One that can handle line level input.

TIA

I purchased that Tascam awhile back, and am impressed with it. But the RF that gets into the receiver, that's not good.
If you can patch this filter into your cable, the interference will be blocked.

This is a line filter that will isolate the RX and recorder. Connect each lead of the patch cord coming out of the radio to either
of the "line" pins, NOT to the 'gnd' or case. Connect the pins on the other side to the recorder 'in' cable.
It's a little chunky looking, but will isolate the RF from the radio.
Other, similar line filters may be available in your area at surplus outlets..
Good DX'ing!

sorry - since I'm running on batteries - out in the field, this would not do + the RF QRM is getting in mostly via the audio cable that links the boombox radio to the Tascam DR-05

I even placed the DR-05 on the ground, away from the boombox as far as possible to no avail.

Disregard this filters original use-
This filter, when installed in series in the AUDIO CABLE to the radio, will reduce the interference on the order
of 20db, or about 99%.

I use a Sony ICD-PX820 to record everything DX on. Technically its a voice recorder, but it accepts a stereo 3.5mm input and records to MP3 format. You can select a few different bitrates. It has a USB connection so all I have to do is transfer files over to my computer. I can check the display on the recorder while its recording and make a note of the time for later reference when I look back at the MP3. Hooked up via my Sony XDR-F1HD's output I notice no interference or noise being sent through the audio cable, even on AM. I use mine for ES, tropo and AM recordings. Ive also used it on a late 70s/early 80s Rotel receiver and noticed no issues. I did this FM band scan using the Sony recorder:

There are now other models, just look for one with USB, and now some of them have SD card slots so you can add more memory. They run on 2AA batteries and last quite a while, but can also be powered with 5v via the USB plug.

SD support on Sony anything? For real; you're not just BSsing us?

I wish I'd been in Tokyo the day the memo got handed around saying they were actually going to start supporting a non-proprietary storage medium! What a dark, sad day that must have been.....
