Hello Underminer,
I have been reading your posts for a few years now and one thing I have certainly noticed is that you enjoy criticizing broadcasters in the Portland, Maine market anonymously. In most cases they do not deserve it. Portland is one of the most competitive markets in the entire country and I have to say there are VERY talented broadcasters in Portland. Randi K and Herb Ivy, Tim Moore and Chris Mack, Stan Manning and Tommy C and many others who work very hard to bring great radio to the greater Portland area. Most of the things you say you never back up with a real solid understanding of what you are talking about. [EDIT-inflammatory]
Your recent post of the last arbitron book for the Portland market proves you do not know what you are talking about, so most likely you are either not in the business or you are not in a position where someone who actually knows cares to tell you. WMGX and WJBQ did have a great book, it was clearly an incredible pop book which you could have easily found out by checking out Allaccess.com. Congrats to the MGX, JBQ staff who deserve the ratings they recieved. As for the other information you passed on to readers, you wrote that Frank is in a downward spiral, you do realize Frank is #2 adults 25-54 in the Portland metro and is #1 adults 25-54 in the Portland TSA? Frank has been in the top 3 with adults 25-54 (most of the time #1) since the day it hit the air and has been the highest billing station in the market since 2005, while challenging stations that have been on in this market since the 70's (I would have to say they have done well). If you knew anything about revenue you would understand that adults 25-54 is the winner 12+ means absolutely NOTHING!
As for WPOR MOVING UP...WRONG AGAIN! This was a horrible country book in the Portland Metro, WPOR took huge hits from their spring book, York county saved them in the TSA. WTHT-The Wolf took hits too in the metro, but not as bad as WPOR. The Wolf for the second book is Maine's most listened to country station by share and cume. You also mentioned WBLM was off, it actually gained share in men 25-54 and did better with adults 25-54. This means you where wrong again! Portland is a classic rock-country market like it or not, it always has been. If FRANK, WBLM, WPOR, and The Wolf can continue to co-exist in a small market and be successful year after year CLASSIC ROCK and country are not going anywhere.
I do not mind you critiquing broadcasters, but please make sure you have the correct information, the experience, and the proven success before you try to make the industry believe you know what the hell you are talking about. You will probably now try to figure out a way to make a remark that you feel will embarrass my post, but as usual you will prove how petty and ignorant you are, so please post away!
