Portland FM Dial is getting crowded.

THings are getting crowded for the Portland FM Dial. KNRQ 97.9 in Eugene and KWLZ 96.5 in Warm Springs Or is trying to move-in the Portland Market.

97.9 applied to become a class c-3 station for Tualitin, Oregon with 920 watts located at Sylvan Hills.

96.3 applied to become a class C-3 station for West Linn, Oregon at 96.3 with 2.9kw located at Healy Heights.

Yep. When the FCC allowed KMCQ in The Dalles to downgrade and move all the way to suburban SEATTLE, it opened up the floodgates for all sorts of moves that otherwise wouldn't and shouldn't have been allowed.

You will now see multiple stations attempting to abandon their communities and move 60, 80, 100, or more miles into larger markets.

But don't forget, the FCC requires that broadcast licensees operate "in the public interest" and "provide service to their communities."
