WTF is going on in Portland? BLM "we play 5 (!) in a row!" God that is lame. Frank/Bone/Wolf "Free gas!" Have you noticed? Gas is relatively cheap these days! WPOR caller 10 gets cash. Where is the creativity? At least The Coast is doing something different with their purse giveaway. The rest of Portland's fall book contests SUCK!

Yes, dull indeed!
While the purse thing is different, it researches as one of the worst promotions ever.
The gas thing is done to death, and has certainly lost its urgency. Of course prices could start to climb again after the election! Note on your observations, Underminer: A look at Frank's web site shows them doing the payroll contest, with a $10K bonus. Checking other Nassau websites none of their other stations are doing such a contest, so it appears that the payroll thing is local to WFNK. Still, I agree - where's the creativity?
What say we help these poor, underpaid, overworked promotions/programming chiefs out? Anyone have a compelling, creative promotion idea? Maybe someone will steal it and offer up some really EXCITING radio for us all!

It actually makes me a little sad to hear how the same promotions are used OVER and OVER again...during a Fall or Spring book! Of course, this practice doesn't necessarily make the radio station sound any better?
Maybe it's because it's easier to 'update an earlier promotion' than come up with something different....or perhaps... A LITTLE BETTER?
Having said this, I'm sure there will be at least one GM, GSM or a PD who will respond with the famous: "That's what our listeners told us they wanted" comeback line???
