Portugal - AM Tower maintenance pictures

Thanks for the effort to post the pics. Always was fascinated by radio towers and even climed a couple for some Ham stuff.

Optical Illusion.

At 1000 feet the guys only look more frequent because they are higher and everything gets smaller fom where you are.

Cool pics.

SFM, Very cool tower pix. Wow 1/2 waves at 594kHz. Now that's damn impressive!
Nice to see an operator that still has faith in the Medium Wave band.

Great pictures! A half wave tower will get out quite well, given the channce. Sounds like the station has coverage similar to CHWO in Toronto, with their 50 kW into a 183 deg. tower on 740. My station, WVCH, has to protect them by dropping to 6 watts at night. Outside of the Media, PA area, Toronto absolutely owns 740 at night. I can bet that 594 in Muge must do the same at night in their area if the ground conductivity is decent.

I was there again last Friday and I asked the tech. if they used to drop the power at night and he told me yes, full power during the day and a drop to 26 Kw during night.

I didn't had courage to ask to take pictures from the transmitters but they're placed in a large building in a large room where on the left side are MW transmitters (under maintenance) and on the right side are the SW one's (not in service anymore since 1990) The shortwave antennas were destroyed by copper thieves.

Here you can see it's look from the sky ;D :
