Positive Feedback

I just read a comment on another market thread about there being far more negative posts than positive feedback. So here's mine:

HFS has been excellent for the past few months!!!! The mandatory overplays are nicely balanced with a very wide variety of tracks not heard in years! The lean towards Free Form is refreshing after nearly a decade of narrow playlists. The station IDs being added give back that 'homegrown' hfs feeling the listeners always loved. Having Neci on mornings is awesome and Jerry sounds like an HFS veteran, which was a concern of mine when he first hit the 'airwaves', in fact he really shocked me with his approach to the mess CBS handed him.
There is nothing on the 'main' FM airwaves remotely close to this incarnation of (W)HFS!! And that brings me to the only negative part of this-CBS....anyone listening??-I realize when WHFS started out it was on a new medium called "FM" and was a risky venture that paid off as the population embraced the new technology....I see the parallel to todays situation with HD/Ibiquity Radio and its obvious that this is an experiment to see if this new technology will catch on like FM did. But we're in the middle of a depression and consumers just aren't rushing out to grab HD. So a strong 'station' goes unheard for the most part....don't get me wrong here I love the commercial free music BUT I would also not mind commercial breaks if it meant WHFS were on a main FM signal that had the reach of the 99.1 xmitter!! It would be well worth it. Baltimore/DC needs a good station again. CBS has one. HFS ROCKS!!! It has made a comeback from mediocre radio in a way that should please listeners of almost every era of the WHFS legacy. Thats pretty impressive. Now take that final step and undo years of dumb decisions. Please.

Buy a Powerball ticket. Hit the jackpot. Buy and FM Radio station. Relaunch HFS. Obviously you won't be able to call it HFS because CBS has those calls on 1580 and no doubt they won't share them. They got the WHFS calls on 1580 AM in DC. They got the WBCN calls on 1660 in Carolina. And they got WNEW on a Hot AC station in Florida. All 3 are valuable call letters that they won't give up or share.

Marc I've tried lotto a few times LOL. I know why the legendary calls are 'parked' on AMs....they're saving them until they can either put them back on a prosperous FM or sell them for big BIG bucks. If I had to buy some legendary calls I'd go for WDRE. Whats wrong with a listener suggesting something a high paid desk jockey should recognize? If CBS didn't have plans for the why would they lock'em up on an AM? I suppose if it were Talk Radio I was ranting about I could use conspiracy theories on the subject.

They should put it on a Baltimore HD2 and on 99.1 HD2 (if it's in HD). That will come close to the original coverage.

If HD has the reach it claims it may do the job but I've read lots of complaints about the subchannels degrading far short of the typical range. Internet 'radio' would solve the problem anywhere but thats still not a main FM signal. Of course if I would just buy an HD or Internet streaming device, other than my computer,my problem would be solved but I was competing for work with the listeners of 99.1 El Zol back when it flipped and just like the radio station they got the work too so funds aren't at a premium now. But on the bright side since I have no work I can listen to HFS on my home computer until they come to put me on the curb.
