Seriously... TWICE!
Jock in question said no, but I know what I heard. (Not that I'm offended, I was concerned for their jobs!)
I listened to the context a couple times and there's no doubt because of the specifics of the caller's leading dialogue. Explanation: the word was used/spoken outside of its typical context...it is also the name of a British clothing corporation [acronym of French Connection United Kingdom], however the caller used the f-word instead of the co's initials, as is its proper pronunciation.
Neither person in the studio heard it that way, legitimately believing the person said "Bucs," but the sound over the air didn't contain a "B" or an "S", just an "F" and "K"..... clearly, twice.
It was "prime time" (sort of) on a weekend, at a mid-ranked commercial station owned by a non-tolerant corporation.
Couldn't the people involved still lose their jobs? ???
And/or get fined?
Thanks for any input.
