positive

Are there ever any positive postings about Burlington radio and those who are part of it? All who post are obviously very passionate about the business, so why not support your colleagues instead of bashing the crap out of ‘em. Everyone I have met works very hard with limited resources and for little $$$ but somehow musters up the dedication and professionalism to operate some pretty decent sounding stations. As a matter of fact, Burlington sounds better than many other markets in the Northeast.

Many of us have worked in larger cities for bigger paychecks but have returned or settled in these parts for one reason or another and are working hard at making market # 137 sound great. No doubt competition is part of the game but it’s quite lame to make such personal attacks. How about rallying around your fellow broadcasters? We’re all in this together.

You bring up some great points Lebba1. People on these boards basically love radio and bring all sorts of perspectives, experiences, and the willingness to share. I would think that most people want to see people do well and succeed, I certainly do. Most of the issues and frustrations are due to the economics of the the business, and the large groups that have taken over from the little guys.. Most of the thrashings seem to go to the larger corporate groups than the local owners. You don;t see any intelligent trashings of the local VT owners, Paul Goldman, Ken Squier, Jeff Shapiro, Brooks Brown, WTSA, Bruce James, and coming soon.. Vox in Burlington. These groups can easily staff their stations, and make things happen. Radio is a for-profit business. You can almost say that it's the big or wannabe big corporate groups like Pamal, Nassau and what's left of Clear Channel that tried to move mountains with shrinking staffs. Those groups put their resourses into the larger more profitable markets they operate in, and try to make do in the smaller ones.
