Possibilities for last song on Mike

For now the Mike website is still up with Free Bird listed as last song played. May eventually be taken down

Will check HD radio later to see what's on the HD2s. I would think some moves like that may not take
effect till later today. The Mike page btw has been thanking listeners for a couple days now

See other thread for link to the last moment of Mike etc

Page did change--maybe my cache hadn't refreshed. New page with a thank you and info that club members now have their points transferred to similar clubs run by WEEI and WAAF

Now I've got to find something else for my fiancee's number 1 preset on FM as it was the only radio station she'd listen to. Suddenly, 6 F.M. presets is too many! As for me, I didn't have 93.7 as a preset for too long because of W229AN in Providence overriding Mike-F.M. around here. I have 12 F.M. presets & when Oldies & WROR-FM go into their all-Christmas Music Carousel of Crapola in another month or 2, I'm going to have to put 87.7 in their presets until 12/26. I need 12 A.M. presets before I need 12 F.M. presets. I dunno, maybe it's time for satrad. Nah!

In the meantime...remember when you could hear music on F.M.?

They were one of the very few stations that would actually play music on my morning commute at about 7:30AM. A big loss for southern NH. :(

Since I no longer have Mike for my morning commute, I was rotating between WODS and WROR this morning, neither of which I have listened to with any regularity for years. WODS is now promoting itself as "Boston's newest at-work station". They played a liner that was similar to the message you used to hear (still hear) when you dial a phone number that no longer works: "The number you have reached, 93.7, no longer works. The new number is 103.3. Please make a note of it."

I suppose it was nice to hear Loren and Wally on ROR and Karen Blake and Paula Street on ODS again but I need to find something else quickly because, once the jingle bells start ringing 24/7 in a matter of weeks, I won't be listening to them again.

Still plenty of music options if you don't mind pop/hip-hop (WJMN, KISS), tight-playlist classic rock (WZLX), hit country (WKLB), classical (WCRB) three shades of AAA (WXRV, WERS, WUMB) or the college radio hodgepodge (WHRB, WMFO, WZBC, etc.). For anything else, well ... Mel Karmazin and company have operators standing by!

Here's the playlist of the last 90 minutes of Mike FM:

4:29 am The One Thing - INXS
4:33 am Sympathy For The Devil - Rolling Stones
4:39 am Somebody - Bryan Adams
4:43 am Because The Night - 10,000 Maniacs
4:47 am Cars - Gary Numan
4:50 am Heartache Tonight - Eagles
4:55 am 1999 - Prince
5:01 am Refugee - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
5:04 am How Do You Do - Mouth & McNeal
5:07 am Better Man - Pearl Jam
5:11 am On The Dark Side - John Cafferty
5:14 am Dancing Queen - Abba
5:18 am Come As You Are - Nirvanna
5:21 am Dancing In The Dark - Bruce Springsteen
5:25 am Hold Me Now - Thompson Twins
5:29 am My Life - Bill Joel
5:33 am Unbelievable - EMF
5:37 am Cherry Bomb - John Mellencamp
5:42 am Enjoy The Silence - Depeche Mode
5:44 am Bad Medicine - Bon Jovi
5:51 am Free Bird - Lynyrd Skynyrd

I recorded the last hr of Mike and first hr of WEEI on FM.

Still officially no call letters of WEEI-FM for the 93.7 so liners say "WEEI on FM" lest it be counted as a legal
ID for is still officially WMKK. Any day now.

Crackpot idea #355:
Mike 680--you get to hear "everything", in glorious AM complete with interference and no signal
west of town after dark but you still would have Mike. Then people would complain on Facebook
about how they have trouble picking up Mike 680 at work without interference...

WEEI 850: Carry some WEEI shows and put the former RKO hosts on. D&C, Finn & Fein or Jen Brien 10-noon, Howie 12-3, Big Show joined in progress. Or run Howie 3-6 and you could still get Big show on
FM.

WEEI 93.7--all they do currently
Yeah crackpot idea but what else can they do with 680 and 850? And they'd get to keep 97.7/107.3 as is!
