Possibility of KUBE on 95.7?

Since Vancouverites will almost no longer hear KUBE 93 very loud & clearly, 'cause of the new Jack clone (or adult hits station) The Peak 93.3 in Port Alberni BC, could Clear Channel shuffle its stations, with:

93.3 Mega 93.3 (Hurban)
95.7 KUBE 96 (CHR-Rhythmic)
104.9 KJR-FM's New Home (Classic Hits, Replacing Active Rock Funky Monkey)

If you move KUBE to 95.7, Vancouverites will get a rimshot hiphop signal again.
Edited by PassDutch on 07/18/05 03:13 AM.

What an idiotic thought. Obviously posted by some out-of-town moron with no knowledge of the market.

Why on earth would Clear Channel care if folks in Vancouver can receive a rimshot signal of KUBE? They make their money based on listeners in the Seattle/Tacoma area, not Vancouver...

Pass the bowl over here to this side of the border. I got some better stuff.

Have a toke and ponder this:

KJR-FM's 95.7 frequency is half and .7 of it's selling point. Local folks who grew up when KJR was just 95 (950 AM) identify well with that. To put KJR-FM on a frequency like 104.9 would ruin it for KJR-FM, Eatonville-Tacoma-Seattle.

And NOBODY in Seattle can imagine KUBE anywhere else but 93 FM.

And I don't think I'd wanna piss off the Hot Topic crowd that listens to KFNK currently either if I ever want to show my face again at another kegger party in South Puget Sound without leaving the party on a stretcher with massive internal bleeding......

For that matter, why would the CRTC (Canada's FCC) give a rip? They're putting in overlapping stations left and right on the dial up that way, especially with AMs migrating over. Get used to it. All the Seattle area stuff will be swallowed up or splattered upon in due time.

KUBE 93FM & KJR Channel 95. Legendary call letters and frequency numbers. Dont't wanna mess with those. CC could save a few bucks and dump the Sportsradio format and just simulacast 95.7 on 950 in AM stereo. Would be fun to hear music on 950 again. Just my $0.02 worth.

Don'r know, but I'd get worried about being struck out, fouled and fumbled if I had to deal negatively with Groz with Gas....

But it would be a real treat in some AM only radio vans where I work, to listen to better fidelity (and slightlier funkier music) than what is currently on KWDB 1110 AM, Puget Sound's Last Full Service AC. I can only tolerate so much Bill O'Reilly too.

My Northwest AM Picks (DAYTIME) :

CKBD 600 (a Michael Buble addict's greatest enabler)

CBU 690 (Non-stop radio documentaries. As a fan of the History and Discovery Channels on TV, I'm cool with that too somehow...)

KIXI 880 (a little more hipper than they used to be, nice to hear some of the newer cuts.)

CKMO 900 (From Ireland to Africa to Mongolia to the sharecroppin' fields in Alabama to Moorish music from Mauritania in ONE HOUR. Always a trip to listen to on some lunch breaks in the AM vans.)

KPTK 1090 (Truth, The Anti-Rove)

KWDB 1110 (great jukebox of lost classics otherwise)

KWYZ 1230 (soundtrack to my kim-chee dining)

KKDZ 1250 (format frighteningly similar to KBKS sometimes, Puget Sound's last AM CHR?)

KLKI 1340 (Anacortes's Answer to KUBE! And you get to hear sports from the one many Skagit Valley high school jocks still refer to as "Da Man"-you'd be suprised at how much a positive coment from him means to them!-Da Man, The Top Dogg, The Godfather Of Puget Sound Sports Radio-The Legendary Bill O' Mara, Kickin' it in style on da morning and afternoon ride on AM 13-for-tay, bay-bay!...)

KRPI 1550 (Bhangra-The Next Hip-Hop)

KVRI 1600 (Nice background to my Indian lunch buffet - I miss the Sunrise in Mount Vernon..)

Isn't that Radio Disney?
