Possible new format on WRZK?

  • Thread starter TightwadSquarepants
  • Start date

uh? J-Street, I hate to correct thy wisdom, but squarepants did go to ETSU. He sat beside me on graduation
on Dec. 98', also beside a former Miss Johnson City, the forever gorgeous Kristen Shelton. He knows about "The Edge" on the cable. It ain't no big thang. Chill Kee-Mo-Sabee....

Well that's good to know there maddog. I had never had that conversation with him. I understand his post more now but we'd all hate to see some big station with an actual frequency take their name, now wouldn't we? Know your roots. Thanks for thy wisdom maddog.

That JT guy got fired and is working over at Citadel now, from what I hear. Funny, I never really cared too much for him! ;)
Anyhoo, yes, maddog, we did sit next to each other at graduation at ETSU, but when I left there they were still calling it Pirate Radio, so I did not know! I was referring to the Monday Night Edge that I used to host on WRZK.

And I never really did much work at ETSU's radio station. I decided to get a completely worthless degree and opted for Political Science and Sociology! I think I might have pulled two shifts total.

And thanks, mr.d for the complement. I appreciate it. I think Winnie is better than you give her credit for and this is really Nicole's first shot at doing "real radio". And I have nothing but good things to say about Scotty. Total pro and completely underappreciated in that building. Best boss I ever had. Wait...I haven't had that many to begin with, but still one of the best!

Peace,
TWSP

So JT is at Citadel? At The Peak?
I'll be listening to 104.9 then.
Thanks!!!!

Glad u guys CONSTANTLY watch this board for quick jabs. Don't you guys eat? I have to be here till 9:30 to run h.s. baskeetball. Keep up the good fight. Watch those left hooks. I'm hungry, can't find my bowl.....

Actually, JT is on the classic rocker (WQUT). I don't think he's pulled an airshift on The Peak. Wait, I know he hasn't. I am JT...no wait...I am TightwadSquarepants...no, well, forget it. Just doing weekend shifts right now.
And Maddog, I do eat and I only check radio-info on the weekends. The rest of the time I try to live in the real world. I have no choice...I don't work radio full-time right now! Damn!

Damn Guys!!!!

Slow down and "Stop and Smell the Roses"(old Mac Davis Song for young pups out there). You wet behind the ears naive youngsters will soon learn as JT/TWSP already has(unfortunately) that there is much more to life than living your dreams/nightmares as an under appreciated, under compensated, misunderstood "air personality" in this lovely place we call the Tri-Cities. Take time to appreciate the beauty in which we live and all our loved ones and family who are still with us and then go out and get a real job to keep a roof over your and your wives heads and food in the little kiddies tummies. That's what it's about!!!!!!!

So just an observation here, but gcc sounds like a disgruntled former radio employee?

Hey JT or TWSP - I thought you had left the area.
I'll catch you on QUT and call you sometime.

remember all the b-games at HVB

J-Street......Just an old hippie with a firm grip on reality!!!! Some day you'll be as wise and seasoned as myself and Crossman

whats up everyone. did ya miss me? i'm back and ready to get the ball rollin' again in here since it's dead as crossman's sex life. why dont we start with gcc over here. man, this site is full of old geezers who think they know everything about the radio world and more importantly, the world in general. well excuse me if i offend all the ghandis in here but give it a rest. you're not as smart as you think you are. gcc, it's obvious you're one of a few things here. one: you weren't good enough to ever cut it in radio in the first palce or two: someone who was pissed you off enough to give up and leave the business forever or three: maybe you got caught sleeping with the pds wife, maybe you worked for crossman and slept with his boyfriend. so i'm curious what gift you brought to the birth of jesus there old wiseman? you shouldnt be so quick to ruin the dreams of the younger ones in here like j.streak and loosewadtrianglepants. i'm sure most people here, young or old, are smart enough to know you either gotta be awesome at what you do in radio or get another job. but i'm sure most of them work a second job while they're trying to succeed in the radio, they don't give up on their dreams like a kerry votin' liberal hippie like yourself... as wise as you may be.

Hey there young "man" in the pink pants. I brought the gifts of wisdom, realism, and forgivenss. What have you given lately? Crossman,TightWad and I have more knowledge in our little fingers than you will ever have. But I forgive the impudence and impatience of youth,my child!

Just when I thought the conversation in here was back on a purely professional level (and it was), here comes geek and his usual load of drivel. We had some good stuff going on here, so don't screw it up. Go on back to your MySpace blog and entertain there, because it's certainly not entertaining here. And by the way, gcc, Buck and I have more experience than most everyone here and people could learn from it.

The more I read geek's post, the more upset I become. We have intelligent conversation on here...maybe the smart comment every once in a while, but everyone (and that includes turd and gasket) are commenting intelligently about radio, and more importantly, the possible new format on K-rock. And then we have geek, who has said nothing intelligent ever since he showed up on the board. I've got some news for you, Sparky. We do know things about the radio world, and we're happy to share them with whoever will listen and post something back in an intelligent, responsible manner. It doesn't matter if you're as experienced as myself, gcc or buck...or relative newcomers like j-street and twsp. So, if you've got something intelligent to say, we'd all love to hear it and post our rebuttals. If all you can talk about is my sex life and gcc not being in radio anymore, then tell it to someone who gives a s**t.

Love how those people who actually have logical discourse on this board are continually censored
and yet Geek continues to get away with the drivel he (or she) sputters out every single post.
Knowing the "old geezers" on this board the way I do, I am confident that if they were to share
just an iota of their experience with someone like Geek, the poor liner readers' head would explode.

No disrespect intended, crossman, but I am a relative newcomer to radio? I thought 15 years counted for something. I have been doing this gig for half of my life now, so am I still a newcomer? Just curious! ;D

Peace,
TWSP

Lets see, 4 companies, 10 plus gm's, as many pd's, as many "formats", from overnights to corporate and everywhere in between, and almost 20 years ....been pissed a time or forty-five, but never regret a second. Gotta love/hate radio. I'm just not equipt to do anything else.

Bored-op is right. Radio people are in a world of our own. You have to have a skewed sense of reality to work in this business. The only thing I can compare it to is marriage. Sometimes you love her and sometimes you are really mad at her, but you always have her in your heart. Does that make any sense? Who knows? Who cares? I just know that I don't want to do anything else in this world.

I guess I could go write press releases for a college, or develope some BS marketing plan for a product that would make all our lives easier.....But I didn't buy an education. Stupid me. Get that piece of paper, kids, even if it seems useless. It can open alot of doors that you would'nt have ever even seen. Still would'nt trade mine for thiers, though. TWSP, You are radio people. You'll be back full time for the man before long. Radio people, and people who do radio.....Two different breeds.
