Possible new home for "Roseanne"?

The real problem here for ABC is that a show that was created as a star vehicle loses a lot when that main star is removed. The other side is would a spin-off without a bankable star attract more viewers that a completely new show that has no heritage. I don't know the answer. Granted the team shouldn't be punished for the actions of the star, and the team is probably very skilled at writing and acting in this new show. But it's not a fair one-for-one replacement as far as the network is concerned, and they shouldn't have to pay the same fee or expect the same level of success. Unless they can find someone who is equally as bankable as Roseanne, who can step into her spot, and pick up where the previous storyline left off.

I Heard there is a strong possibility the Roseanne cast will go on without her and they can call it "The Conners", like in the 80s Valerie Harper didn't want to continue her show "Valerie", and NBC added Sandy Duncan and called it "The Hogans Family".

What kind of ridiculous speculation is that?

It may be ridiculous, but being me, I will speculate. If what nomadcowatbk means by a "9/11 moment" (odd thing to call it) is a terrorist attack on an American city in which thousands of people are killed, I'll speculate that people will rally around their President and all criticism of Trump would cease for a time. But there are differences.

Remember that in September 2001, Bush had only been President for 8 months. His opposition was criticizing him as kind of a feckless idiot, but he hadn't actually done anything stupid...yet.

The latest I heard is the spin-off will be called "Darlene" and focus on her.

We can hope David shows up from time to time.

At least "Living Biblically" was cancelled so she doesn't have any other commitments. Is she still on 'The Talk"?

It also helps that both The Talk and Roseanne both tape on the same lot (CBS Studio Center).

Syndicated columnist Walter Williams said that what Kanye West said was the same thing Dr. Thomas Sowell said. So it's not all that outrageous. If you believe Williams. He makes a lot of sense but I'm not as conservative as he is.

I think Ivanka Trump is worthy of respect (her only fault is supporting her father, and you can't really blame her for that) and Samantha Bee should be ashamed.

Ivanka Trump isn't exactly a bystander. She and Don Jr. were nearly indicted in 2012. Here's one of several links on the story: https://www.newyorker.com/news/news...donald-trump-jr-avoided-a-criminal-indictment

She didn't "speak to SF Gate"--she was quoted from a Hollywood Reporter piece. And it's an opinion from someone not attached to the show currently, not an indication of whether a reconstituted program will happen or not.

Another update on Roseanne's rants

Refresh for updates Roseanne Barr says the tweet that got her sitcom Roseanne canceled – the one likening former Obama aide Valerie Jarrett to a Planet of the Apes character – was not only not racist, but was a condemnation of anti-semitism.

“Rod Serling wrote Planet of The Apes,” Barr tweeted tonight. “It was about anti-semitism. That is what my tweet referred to – the anti semitism of the Iran deal. Low IQ ppl can think whatever they want.” (The Twilight Zone creator wrote the script for the 1968 film, an adaptation of Pierre Boulle’s 1963 novel).

In Barr’s original tweet that prompted the firestorm, she wrote: “Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj.” The tweet was widely interpreted as racist. Barr has not previously mentioned the anti-semitism angle.

Earlier tonight, Barr directed questions to Thomas Muhammad, her 2012 presidential campaign manager and director of a new Malcolm X documentary, but now says she’ll be speaking for herself “soon.”

Also tonight, Barr writes that she has “developed a bit of palsy” in her head and hands due to recent stress, but is now sleeping “without ambien.” She thanks God, bids her followers goodnight and says “we are winning! don’t give up! PEACE is coming!”

And she retweets a birthday greeting to President Donald Trump (along with a photo that, well, see for yourself below) and thanks Rosie O’Donnell “for support and love and understanding even when we disagree!”
