Possible new home for "Roseanne"?

Looks like pretty much all CBS' Monday night lineup was canceled, with the possible exception of Man With a Plan. And I didn't exactly see that as a particularly "strong" show.

"Fresh Off the Boat" was innovative, critics liked it, and the show and its cast got lots of nominations for awards.

It was one of the few sitcoms (and the only one on network TV when "Dr. Ken" was cancelled) about an Asian-American family.

True. I like it, but it's not exactly innovative. The gimmick was the dad staying home, and that seems to have disappeared. I don't know who stays with the kids in the late afternoon or when they're not at school.
 
Monday nights on CBS used to be my go to night for viewing (Along with Thursday nights on NBC in the 80's and 90's) because of how many sitcoms they had that I liked. Maybe not every single one, but there would always be at least one or two that were favorites at the time. But since Everybody Loves Raymond and King of Queens ended, I really haven't gotten into anything new they've had.

I didn't like those shows. I discovered I like Kevin James in movies. I thought I liked him in his new sitcom, but the presence of Leah Remini has had a similar effect to Chris Thiel taking over what used to be "Prairie Home Companion". Whatever else was there didn't seem as good without what I really liked. Roseanne's absence too?

Patricia Heaton I liked on her sitcom about a loser family that has been compared to the Conners.

John Goodman is also doing another show called Righteous Gemstones besides the Roseanne or now the show without Roseanne Reboot.

John Goodman's career in both films and TV has been a major success - much more so than Roseanne Barr. Perhaps some of the others in the cast need Roseanne or The Connors, or whatever.. for a paycheck. Not Goodman...or Laurie Metcalf, for that matter. They were doing the new Roseanne because they wanted to, not because they had to.

By "the film," if you mean Ladybird, it was released last year. Shooting began in August 2016. So not that long ago. Just checked imdb. Laurie Metcalf has 17 credits in the last decade, not counting Roseanne, including some TV series on which she was a regular or semi-regular, other films, and voice-over acting.

If she "needs" the Roseanne money, it's just because she "needs" a third home, a new yacht, or a fifth car.

I meant it's not like she filmed it recently like the TV series that have aired.

The point is she doesn't need the money. But some of the others might.

In San Francisco recently, a woman was filmed on her phone, reporting the young girl next door - to the police. The girl was selling bottled water on the sidewalk without a permit. The video went viral, and the woman was dubbed "Permit Patty." It didn't help that "Patty" is white, and the girl and her mother (who filmed Patty) are African-American. "Patty" claimed that her call was actually fake, and that she only pretended to call police, but did it to piss off the mother, with whom she had argued.

As a result of the negative publicity, "Patty's" real name was revealed, and she had to quit her job (as CEO of a medical marijuana company, yet).
In this atmosphere, we ALL have to be careful what we say and do in public - but celebrities, especially.
