Possibly Another Country station ?

Morning Show Talent
Major market Country station on the East Coast seeks a morning show entertainer (one person). Must be a great communicator and have a minimum of five years experience on-air in morning drive. Must be great with the listeners on the air (phones) and in the streets. Also looking for talent for all air shifts (midday, afternoon drive, nights). Minimum of three years on-air experience only. RUSH your resume, audio, photo and materials to: Radio & Records 5055 Wilshire Ave 6th Floor Los Angeles, CA 90036. Attention to Rosalina Correa Job # 1185

From R&R - East Coast or Eastern half of U.S. ? -

DC/Baltimore have 2
Boston has one already
Philly has one
Atlanta?

Of Course some people in Market # 30 consider that Major - so that does open things up a little more, but not much.

There are only 10 markets that are Major - One of them in the East is looking to build a new airstaff to launch or relaunch a Country station.

New York, LA, Detroit, Dallas, Houston, Chicago, don't really fit the bill.

Atlanta is in the East, Atlanta is a top ten market, Atlanta has seen a lot of Country drama in the last 18 months - so the question is whether or not a company in Atlanta is looking to launch another Country station.

I hope that makes sense.

For what it's worth (probably less than my $0.02)

Reasons to add a country station in ATL:
1) Put the hurt on Citadel who's about broke.
2) Kill Bull in the crib.
3) Go for a niche, such as classic country, rockin' country, or Americana.

Reasons to NOT add a country station in ATL:
1) Citadel put all of their country chips on Kicks and will not give up without an expensive fight.
2) Bull is beginning to look like the only bright spot in CC's ATL cluster(f***).
3) None of the aforementioned niches will get you that much traction, except maybe classic country.
4) There isn't room for three full-power, in-town country stations (Kicks, Eagle, Bull--yes, I know Eagle was neither full-power nor in-town) and an untold number of country rimshots (South 107, WNGC, WCON, WKHC, Bear, maybe WSSL and US 101 depending what part of the metro you are in).
5) Who would add one? CC? No. Cox? Not after buying WNGC. R1? No way. CBS? Maybe to replace Dave, but I can think of better ideas for Dave. Citadel? No. Cumulus? No. Lincoln? Doubtful.

reason #6 to not add a country station in atl:we already have enough. theres only 1 format i can think of that we DONT have.

I can think of a dead, old, tired format that is failing nationwide that we DON'T have.

Citadel can not fight a money war. The whole reason for blowing up Eagle and getting rid of the Kicks staff is to save money. If somebody started a money war Kicks would come in last.
