Post-Baisden: Skip Murphy affiliation watch and others going back local

I am also a big fan of Skip Murphy from the K-104 days.

So far his new show sounds more music-intensive than Baisden. An old school mix is usually featured in the last half hour. Have been listening to him on the KOKY stream. I think it is a bit early to tell which direction this show is going to go.

I have gotten tons of positive comments for just doing a simple show with tons of music. I have received no negative comments at all for removing Baisden. I am glad I did not take that show and get locked into an agreement.

Some of the things listeners have commented on is how nice our music sounds. They said they enjoyed the Baisden content, but he played the same old songs over and over again each week.

How about an afternoon traffic mix? I always felt Baisden's show should've had a 30 mintue mixshow.

We are starting one next week from 4:50 to 5:20. Also doing a forgotten classic at 4... One hit wonder type stuff.

I too have been a fan of Skip dating back to when he was on K-104 in Dallas so I want to check out the show and see what its about since we now have him here in Columbus, OH. on our UAC Magic 106.3 but the problem is I'm not getting that station here at work on that poor rimshot signal :-[

I didn't take it either... Went local in Monroe,LA on Mix 101.9...
glad you did not take it,show is garbage.

Not at all unfair to declare a radio show 'garbage' after ONE broadcast, no sir.
I did not like what I heard not on here to fuss at someone about my thought of the show

"Show is garbage" in one breath, and "Cox is playing it smart" in another. You don't really expect anyone to believe the former declaration had no influence on the latter, do you?
THAT'S WHAT I SAID DUDE,I'M NOT GOING TO FUSS ABOUT THIS SO JUST DROP IT.

Good tact...I wouldn't want to defend my flimsily-sourced opinion either. :D

Im mad that here in ATL they picked up Skip.
Speaking of Atlanta, looks like Frank Ski might not be sticking around there anymore. According to his Facebook he's headed to WHUR in DC next week for the PM drive. :D

WJMR Milwaukee announced today that it was dropping Skip Murphy, returning TJMS to mornings and shifting morning host Andrea Williams back to middays and midday host Earl Stokes to afternoons.

The new Skip Murphy show is growing on me and I hope it remains viable on other stations. I still have to say though that I am surprised that the music intensive show probably more closely resembles his KRNB show than his very successful, over the top, personality focused show on K-104 all those years.

I still can't get into Skip's show. MAJIC 107.5 ATL would be much better with SiMan in the afternoons because I love his energy. Instead, they have him trying to be soft and mellow from 7pm-12am.

V101.9 has dropped Skip in favor of a local show, "Artie in the Afternoon". Artie has been in middays on sister Power 98 for over
21 years. I think she'll be a great fit.

Skip's show is crap. With topics like "do you hyphenate your name?" or "what was your first car?", it was an easy decision to drop it. The show is music intensive with bad topics. Most stations can do a lot better on the local level, which is the pattern we're seeing.
