Post Counts Inaccurate

Earlier today, my total post count was about 4156 (I believe), now suddenly it's 4082. What could be the cause of this inaccuracy? And what could have happened to the missing posts?

only thing i could think of that may caused it is a issue with servers backing up the data.

I've been noticing it for a while now and had posted about it earlier. Frank had said he would check into it but it's still going on.

A forum I'm a mod at has a similar issue and when the db does it's thing it borks the numbers. The forum also uses vB 4.2.5.

I'm not sure what's going on but I have an idea. When you edit a post, the original is moved to a secure place on the Servers. After a period of time, they are purged from the system.
I wouldn't lose sleep over the issue.
