Post your latest DX

Lots of RFI at my house, particularly with all the neighbors' Christmas lights, so the noise floor is high here. I've been going to the neighborhood park recently to DX.
I'm running into some of this at my house as well. Annoying but not an impossible situation.
I've ran into this problem lately, on my local on 1240. There is a low buzzing noise, that didn't exist in the summer. It generally doesn't mess with the local, but it can be annoying at times. I was wondering what that was, thanks for the post.
I'm not quite ready to cry "bah humbug" just yet.
You might be visited by three spirits. ;):ROFLMAO:

DFW, Texas

10pm CST KSKY 660 Dallas is off the air for unknown reason.
Earlier in the day around 6pm CST they were booming in the Chicago area breaking through the WSCR slop.

Last night and early this morning on 710 kHz somebody has been playing southern gospel music. No announcements or IDs heard while I listened. Could not match it to any streams.

Also heard this morning at 7:30am CST, WAIS (Buchtel, OH) playing Christmas music.

RFI is a major issue where I live. Apartments that are occupied with college students (like me), wifi cables, ethernet cables, appliances, you name it. No wonder I just use an SDR that's a 10 minute drive away from me. It won't be a problem in the future when I move away from RF city and to a place with a few acres of rural land. If it's not an HOA I can install multiple antennas.

Some unusual conditions in Chicago at 5 PM ... KRVN is outdoing WCBS on 880 (which I've never seen at this time of day), and on 850 there is KJON in the Dallas area coming in quite well, a new one for me. Meanwhile on 1040, WPBS in Conyers GA is somewhat stronger than WHO. I wonder if it has to do with the record warm weather pattern somehow or is just a coincidence.

On the contrary, I'm guessing we're starting to have Auoural conditions again potentially sending any skywave to the south. Last night, the stations were all messed up for me (Locale: Cheyenne, WY), with the only notable ones standing being KRVN, KOKC, KSTP, and KXEL, and this also happened at 5pm my time. Congrats on KRVN and WPBS!

Sunset brings a new catch

1430 - KMRB CA, San Gabriel; Cantonese talk going into the TOH, mixed with KMES UT and others; then TOH ID 'AM 1430 KMRB San Gabriel-Los Angeles' at 1600 PT 12/15. NEW #812, 50KW at 898 miles. Even with high power, I have not heard this one yet with the mix of Pacific NW stations I usually get.

I also heard The Drive, 830 KDRI Tucson AZ for a rare relog! Not heard since they were KFLT, Family Life Radio.

10pm CST KSKY 660 Dallas is off the air for unknown reason. I’m hearing XEFZ Monterrey and XEDTL DF mixing N/S and a weak KTNN AZ E/W playing country with some Native Am. mixed in. Edit- at 2305 I’m picking up a weak WFAN with sports talk // stream with the XE’s nulled.

KRVN must have still been on day pattern. I've caught them around this time outdoing WCBS.

The Southern Gospel may be the deleted-but-still-on-the-air WEKC, Williamsburg KY

I've heard KRVN on top of WCBS around or just after sunset a few times. Doesn't happen very often, but when it does, KRVN is usually quite strong. Then, before sunrise here, (and just after sunrise in NYC) sometimes CKLQ from Manitoba turns up. A little more common than KRVN, but not as strong.

At 5PM CST they may not have switched yet in Nebraska. I've caught them around that time.
I remember calling KRVN way back in the 1970s when I was hearing them at Night in Michigan. There was a problem like this then, and people have reported similar things over the years. There is an STA application from 2020, and reports a similar problem. This shows they were running 5 kW Nondirectional fulltime. Perhaps it has happened again.

Both WCBS and KRVN battling it out with good signals on the Brownsville, Texas SDR with each one taking turns being on top of the other.

I've never heard either one on that receiver before and have never heard both stations at once anywhere.

One new one this morning from Houston:

810 WCKA AL Jacksonville 12/16/2021 0708 classic country, ID as "94-3, 97-1, and 810 WCKA". Vy strong on top of frequency, KCMO way underneath.

Starting to get irritated here.. TXPH97 hears WCBS in DFW, Gar hears them south of me, I've been trying for several days w/o success. I do have semi-local KJOZ to contend with, but all I hear is them and KRVN. Oh well, will keep trying.

DFW, Texas -- Sangean ATS-909X -- Times are CST.

New stations logged the past few days:

660 KTNN AZ Window Rock 12/14/2021 2220 C&W and Native American music // stream. Weak with KSKY off and XE stations nulled.
660 XEDTL MEX DF 12/14/2021 2238 Upbeat SS music // stream, fading o/u XEFZ. KSKY off.
660 WFAN NY New York 12/14/2021 2305 Sports talk // stream, weak with XE stations nulled. KSKY off.
790 R. Reloj Cuba 12/14/2021 2254 Spanish with time pips, weak in jumble.
810 WCKA AL Jacksonville 12/15/2021 0702 Jacksonville local ad, fair then faded with KSWV taking over.
1060 WLNO LA New Orleans 12/14/2021 2155 Urban gospel // stream, normal 1060 noise level lower this evening.
1210 WMPS TN Memphis 12/15/2021 0631 Beatles Wonderful Christmas // stream. Weak with KGYN nulled.
1410 WNGL AL Mobile 12/14/2021 2135 Catholic talk program occasionally rising out of the mix // stream very poor

I tried again around 10 PM and there was country music mixing with WCBS, so either KRVN or CKLQ. So maybe KRVN was using their daytime pattern... or it could just have been CKLQ. I checked one more time at 11 PM and it was all WCBS.

Radio Enciclopedia 530 Cuba coming in with a weak signal on the Maui SDR.

I confirmed it by going to the Key West SDR at the same time and it was the same song.

The signal is a lot better on the Kaneohe SDR.
The Kaneohe SDR seems to receive mainland signals much better than the Maui SDR. Gar, have you ever heard KRVN in Hawaii?

Could KRVN have stayed on day pattern because of severe weather?
If so, it wouldn't be the first time.

Normally, I'd say most likely CKLQ, but given that KRVN might be responding to nasty weather, or on an STA, I guess it could have been either one.
