It's funny, I was reading this yesterday and decided to check 1490. At 6:30pm CST I was hearing classic country music down in the jumble, thought maybe it was KPLT, which I haven't ID'd, or maybe even WCOR. At 6:32 I heard a clear ID as "Classic Country WHOC" from Philadelphia, MS. At 430 miles from Houston, not as cool as WCOR, but a nice surprise nonetheless.

I've logged WHOC 1490 here in DFW as well.

I could hear KAAY's top 40 format between our sunset and Little Rock's. When I lived in Quincy, IL, KAAY's fire and brimstone preaching blasted in at night.

KPLT is another station im on overnights at :)
 
1190 KXKS Albuquerque is running day power of 10kw, and is clear in the Cheyenne, WY. Normally, they would be on 24 watt night power.
 
Tonight at 1820 CST, I was hearing WWBA 820 Largo FL with a fair/good signal in WBAP null, with CBS Sports Net and Fox Sports update //stream. Unusual as they're supposed to be directional away from me (and WBAP) at 1kw nights. Maybe on daytime 50 kw?

I've heard WWBA several times in the Chicago area usually right before sunrise. I'm guessing they were running 50KW when you heard them.

Upon further review in Orlando, WBBM is there but fighting it out with someone, while WLS is covered, as is WSCR. But WGN is truly a clear-channel station, with just a bit of flutter hinting at something else, probably WGCR in North Carolina.
 
WGCR is a daytimer. What time were you hearing the flutter? It definitely gives WGN fits at critical hours here in Ohio, and even north of Indianapolis from reports I've seen.
Otherwise, pretty impressive to hear the Chicagoans in central Florida!

Thanks for the report. WGN and WBBM are the most consistent Chicago stations heard on the Key West SDR.

Same out here in San Diego, California. WGN and WBBM are the only Chicago stations that I can pick up out here on a somewhat consistent basis. WBBM seems to do better out West since their transmitter relocation and reduction in power while WGN fights the good fight with KDWN.

I caught WWBA one night back in September 2019 when it had a classic country format. I’ll bet we both heard it still on day power/pattern.

Oh yeah, KKOH definitely gives me problems, especially if you are using a car radio. But, for DXing purposes, I can usually null my portable radio away from KKOH since Reno is in a north, northwest direction and I can aim my radio in a easterly direction toward Chicago to snag WBBM. Usually the more pressing issue is slop from adjacent channel KKOB out of Albuquerque, New Mexico on AM 770 as they are throwing a lot of their 50,000 watt night-time signal toward the southwest right at me.

KDWN is a little more difficult to null to try for WGN since Las Vegas is closer to me and in a more north-easterly direction than Reno, but ever since KDWN lowered their night-time power, WGN has been easier to snag on the West Coast. WLS, on the other hand, is very difficult since KDXU is in the way in St George, Utah and WLS is not as strong out West as WGN and WBBM. WSCR is next to impossible since there seem to be a lot of different stations coming in on 670 AM out west.

This was about 9:15 p.m. ET. I misread the WGCR 15 kW listing as night when it was critical hours. So maybe Managua or San Salvador? This reception is with the car radio so I can’t determine direction.
 
Two new logs, including one graveyard AM:

940 KIXZ Amarillo, TX with Legal ID at 7 am this morning. Shockingly strong and alone on the frequency.

1340 AM with an ad for New Mexico Public Health around 6:40, so either KVOT Taos or KCQL Farmington. Help?

Radio used: Radiwow R-108 internal ferrite antenna, facing north/south for both catches.

WGGR was on all night and giving WBBM hell in Indiana a couple of weeks ago

Look for 1480 KNGO Dallas, its in vietnamese and though 1.5kw night its direcitonal pattern is pointed right at you and throws 15KWs towards SE WY
