Between 4:30 PM and 6:30 PM EST, driving in the Straits Area of Michigan, and stops in parking lots, I was hearing WBBR 1130 New York quite strong. I heard a station in Spanish, presumably WADO, on 1280.

Also I was able to hear WTRX 1330, WFLT 1420, WFNT 1470, WLCO 1530, WWCK 1570, and WAAM 1600 about 5:30 PM. Of course I heard quite a few 50 kW stations too, but I wanted to concentrate on the less powerful ones.

Tonight's surprise from the southwest suburbs of Chicago: WNOW 1030 Mint Hill, N.C., a 9,400-watt daytimer, is giving WBZ a battle with Spanish-language music, sometimes even with WBZ but generally just below. Matched to reception on an SDR in Bakersville, N.C., where WNOW is winning the fight.

On again today with even better signal than yesterday obliterating WBZ.

I just discovered that Cuba has a Radio Progreso on 670 in addition to the dozen or so Rebeldes. Recently I've been hearing Cuban music and other Spanish-language music and talk under R. Rebelde, and last night it was taking over for brief bits. The reception didn't match any non-Cuban station stream I could find in the Americas, so I started going through the various Cuban streams. I finally got a match with R. Progreso on DJ talk and songs by Cuban singer Leoni Torres and Brazilian singer Simone.

The mwlist.org page for 670 shows one non-Rebelde Cuban station. There's no ID there, but the listing shows it as being in Cárdenas and as "ex Radio Enciclopedia." I presume that's the location I heard, and if so, that's a 1 kW catch from 1,166 miles.
Thanks to jim-satx, I have a new logging tonight. Just before 8pm CST in the car, I noticed Radio Progreso was very strong on 890, playing the Commodores' "I'm Easy" just before the hour, followed by SS ballads and a clear Progreso ID. Remembering Jim's post I checked 670 and was happy to hear the same music, albeit way under WSCR and Rebelde. I had been unaware of the 670 Progreso until now, well worth checking on nights when Cuba is strong.

New one for me this morning/ WMRI from Marion, IN on 860, about 90 minutes after sunrise 1kw with a pattern somewhat favorable in my direction. On top of WFOX (Milwaukee) with sports talk. Distance: 176 miles on my stock car radio. Signal was fair, but steady.

Also "next door" on 850, I was getting a weak signal from KFUO from St. Louis. 5kw non-directional daytimer. KFUO used to be relatively common around sunrise and sunset during my early days of DXing before our local 850 signed on from a location only a couple of miles from me. They've since gone dark, so it's back to what 850 was like "back in the day".....at least for this morning!

WMRI...yes the old WGOM. I remember KFUO as a daytime regular when I lived in Quincy, and I've heard them mornings and evenings (I think they are able to operate until Denver sunset).

Someone at an unidentifiable 740 - not CFZM Toronto, which was wiped out by it at times near Chicago - ran a Skyview Networks test channel with tones and short music clips beginning about 3 a.m. CT Saturday morning. Skyview feeds many stations with network and syndicated programs. Checked SDRs in southwest and southeast and couldn’t find a match.

Ideas?

One possibility might be WDGY, a 5kw daytimere out of Hudson, WI (Twin Cities area). Just a guess, but the 5kw signal would certainly be capable of trashing CFZM in the Chicago area. They're directional, toward the southeast, but the null isn't very deep. I was also thinking perhaps WRPQ in Baraboo, WI or KMZN in Oskaloosa, IA. But they're both on at night with miniscule power, and their day power is only 250 watts (or thereabouts).

Would Tulsa be out of the question?

On occasion I've heard WMRI in the early morning on Lake Shore Drive, and sometimes it comes in quite well. For some reason the Milwaukee station (now called WNOV) never really comes in that well, so if I hear a good signal on 860 it's likely to be WMRI.

Not really. They're sometimes audible here under CFZM. I'd be a little surprised if they were testing on a Saturday morning, but who knows.
Wasn't Tulsa. KRMG was found running regular programming on an SDR thataways. I'll try again tonight after hours and see what happens. WDGY or a similarly small station with automation and pattern problems seems far more likely. Might try on the new toy, the Sony SRF-A100 that the postman delivered today. It would be funny if it was in stereo.

Carmichael, CA

Seems like KLIB 1110 Roseville is off, I'm listening to KRDC right now at 12:24 am

Also KRPU 1210 Sacramento is distorting really bad

I'm on my Insignia NS-R5111A

And WBBM under what I gather is KKOH Reno. No luck with WSCR (likely KBOI) or WLS (two stations, one perhaps a 200 kW Progreso outlet from Cuba).
Yes, I heard WBBM as well under KKOH. A couple of times it rose to equal status for a few minutes then faded back down.
I have heard WLS on the Hawaii receiver, but that was a few years ago. Haven't caught it since.

Despite outdated listings, Cuba isn't running 200kW on any frequency.
At our beach vacation spot near Pensacola, 780 is blank during the day, and WBBM is pretty much in the clear at night, although I do occasionally hear Spanish underneath. I'm pretty comofortable in saying that if Cuba was running 200kw on 780 with that amount of brute force, they'd be audible at the place where we stay 24/7. Just like 530, 590, 640, 670, 710, and ocasionally a couple of others. Either alone or underneath something else.

WBBM is mostly in the clear everynight on the Key West receiver.
