Last night here in NJ I heard Spanish music on 900 kHz when nulling out CHML. I'm guessing it's WCLM from Laurel, Maryland, with 500 watts at night. WJWL "La Raza" from Georgetown, Delaware doesn't seem likely unless they were on their daytime signal, as they're only licensed to 145 watts at night. (Unless I was hearing one of Cuba's many super-power AMs?)

Also "Kool Radio" WNTY 990 kHz from Southington, CT is still on their daytime power at night and coming in clearly in NJ, as they have been for the past few months. Otherwise I wouldn't have so much consistent luck at picking them up if they were using their 80-watt nighttime signal.
 
Years ago I used to hear XEW from Mexico City quite often here in the midwest, but I don't know if they are even on the air anymore. Haven't heard XEW in awhile.

They are on the air, but have apparently reduced power to 60 kw.
 
West Central Georgia:
Looking for ZNS Bahamas on 1540 am. Instead heard coverage of Chicago Cubs baseball game.
Thought it must be KXEL in Iowa but they don't carry Cubs games. Only listed affiliate on 1540 am is WBNL Booneville IN. Day power is 250w and night power is 1 watt. I assume they were still on day power. Good catch down here in Georgia.

I heard it again last night. It is WJWL, as I heard Regional Mexican music and liners saying La Raza. So they must be using their daytime power at night.
 
West Central Georgia:

Finally heard ZNS-1 Nassau Bahamas on 1540am late last night - only a brief ID and then it was gone. I'm really surprised how hard it is to receive this station in Georgia with a 50,000 watt signal.

Heard it while I was trying to figure out what station on 1540am was running English language radio drama shows all night - turns out to be CHIN, the multi-ethnic station in Toronto.

I think ZNS1 1540 is directional, has 2 towers... but dont know in which directional they beam... so that could account for having a hard time hearing it

Bahamas-1540 is highly directional to the SOUTH. Very little signal goes North. They are very “listenable” in much of the Caribbean during the daytime while cruising through the Caribbean islands.

Yes, they use the 810 station on Freeport to cover the northern islands, and 1540 for the south.

I have heard the Bahamas station in the northern Dominican Republic and the northern coast of Haiti, but by the time you get to Puerto Rico the signal is pretty much gone; after all, this is 1540 even if most of the path is salt water.
 
This past Sunday, just prior to sunrise, I logged 980 KFWB (5 kW) from Los Angeles, CA. My receiver was a Sony ICF-2010 inductively coupled to a Terk Advantage loop antenna.

I hadn't listened on 980 in quite a while and was checking to see what was out there. The radio was aimed E/W, and I was hearing Spanish-language Christian music at a weak but fairly steady level - most likely KQUE in Rosenberg, TX. At 6:32 a.m., a voice faded up with an ID: "Nueve Ochenta, La Mera Mera." That was followed by the song "Nacho Bernal" by Pedro Infante. After about a minute, KQUE took over and KFWB was gone.

This is my longest catch (1,190 miles) and first logging of a CA station on 980.
 
West Central Georgia:

Winter daytime long distance radio reception is off to a good start. Listened to WJR from Detroit here in Georgia at 2pm yesterday afternoon on my car radio, coming in like a local at a distance of 685 miles. I often get WBT 1110 am Charlotte or WLAC 1510 am Nashville during the daytime in winter, occasionally WCKY 1530 am Cincinnati. But Detroit is a new daytime record for me here in Georgia.
 
It’s raining here, and this morning I received a couple new-to-me AM stations on my Sangean table radio (HRD-18).

WCCO AM 830 from Minneapolis was coming in quite well.
WGVU AM 850 from Muskegon, MI, was also coming in well for a bit. Don’t know why KOA Denver was silent, but it was cool to receive a low power station from Michigan for a bit. :)

Forgot to post about some interesting afternoon AM reception about a week and a half ago. I was receiving KTNN AM 660, KSL AM 1160, and even KLO AM 1430 in bright sunshine for a solid half hour (~15:15 - 15:45 local). I can _never_ heat any of those in the daytime, but all three were clear as could be that afternoon.

A couple of times in the last week or so, around midnight Central, I'm hearing a weak signal on 1610. Sunday night before midnight was the strongest, with m/f talk in an unidentified language. Naturally faded out on the top of the hour but resurfaced with what sounded like folk music after midnight my time. This must be CHHA, as I read that the Mexican Radio Chipango is no longer on the air. Does anyone have a good link to a livestream for this? The one on the website doesn't seem to work, at least on the phone.

Another interesting one recently was on 1660 on 11/17 just before midnight. I heard a steady 1khz beeping for at least 15 minutes with no announcements heard (so maybe a Monday morning test from Eastern time zone?). It seemed to be at +/- N-S bearing and mixing with ESPN Sports, which I assume was my regular KRZI in Waco TX. Has anyone heard this?

No one really does monday morning tests anymore, no need with reliable equipment these days. someone probably has a misconfigured satelitte reciever feeding the automation or somesuch
