Post your latest DX

Tonight around 0600UTC got an ID on KNOM on the Haida Gwaii receiver and switched to the Hawaii receiver and heard KNOM mixing with KKOH. KNOM really gets out with 14KW at night.

I'm 350 ish miles SE of Nome and I've heard KKOH under/over KNOM a few times

I was on 680 on that SDR a little after noon, their time, and heard a very weak signal with sports talk and a commercial for "Golden Gate" something or other. So I was thinking KNBR. I'm really not sure, however, because I immediately checked 740 and 810, and neither KCBS or KGO was in. Not much else from the lower 48 either. At least that I could determine, let alone positively identify, The lone exeption was a very weak KIRO. (Vancouver's big signals were mostly present. 730 was the strongest of a weak bunch).

My strongest Vancouver signals consistently are 1320 and 1470... pretty close tie for 1st..... 730 is a clsoe 2nd

At 4:20pm this afternoon, I received WAKE on 1500 kHz and 1 kW, 2 tower directional in Valparaiso, Indiana. They overtook KSTP which I normally receive during this CH time period in the winter months. They were still on daytime power. Their nighttime power is a mere 25 watts. I did notice they have a CP to move their transmitter further west to Hobart, Indiana with a 3 tower array with a lobe back toward Valparaiso but with a reduced daytime power of 250 watts. This makes little sense on this frequency.

Congrats on the new station. I'm in Chicago and that's one of the very few greater Chicago metro stations I haven't logged. Normally I'd drive along Lake Shore Drive to snag a station like that but there's interference from WPJX (near the Illinois/Wisconsin border) and also I get harmonics from the two local biggies (WGN 720 and WBBM 780). I'm pretty sure I've heard WAKE but have not ever gotten an ID to make it official.

Great catch!

DXBob's reception of WAKE inspired me to try to get it; like MichaelTheZ, it's among my local unheards.

And after a late night and early morning of trying, it still is. But I snagged WBZI 1500 Xenia, Ohio, a 500 watter, with a clear ID out of the crowd at 5:55 a.m. CT, so there's that. The crowd included KSTP, WLQV and WFED. Maybe others.

For a frequency with two 50 kw stations, it's almost a graveyard, far different from the 1980s, when KSTP and WTOP carried local NHL teams and you could hear both play-by-play broadcasts fading in and out when the North Stars and Capitals played each other.

Received with a CC Skywave and DeBock 5" FSL Loop, recorded on a Zoom H1 handheld digital recorder.
Did you buy your loop antenna from Gary, or is someone else selling them, or did you build it?
I was wanting to build a couple of them a few years back, but lost access to the shop and tools.
BTW, my cousin is married to the grandson of Wladimir Polydoroff, who invented the Ferrite Sleeve Loop technology, back in the wartime days.
I wanted to get him to make some FSL and DX-themed logo hoodies, when he was Marketing Director for Dickies.

Very cool over-the-pole reception. This station is always strong on the Arctic SDR in Norway.

Are you receiving this while sitting outside, as you described in your presentation?

Yup, this is while im outside

It was gifted to me because of my unique location and circumstances/set up

Finally! After a couple of weeks' hiatus, I checked out the Norway Arctic SDR this evening and was rewarded with TA DX. A few highlights.....

680: KBRW back and blasting
710: KIRO weak, but steady
920: Country music. Couldn't get an ID, but my best guess is CFRY
1000: KOMO with a good signal
1090: KFNQ in the "intercontenental battle of sports stations" with UK's Talk Sports
1130: Another battle.....CKWX and KTLK (Minneapolis)

I heard Ottawa on 1200 the other night. Let's hope conditions are improving.

NORAD just tweeted that Santa left Tucson. Could this be why I got this new log tonight? :)Thanks St. Nick!

860 - KNAI AZ, Phoenix; heard at 2325 PT 12/24 mixed with KTRB and others, Regional Mexican song in and out, was able to // stream. They are the feeder for K270BZ/K270CZ 101.9 (La Campesina), which used to be on 88.3 before KPHF (VCY) took over the timeshare. NEW #799, 1KW at 1,036 miles.

Also just heard 1110-KRDC Pasadena CA w/ Radio Disney Country, kind of rare.

Good catch on KRDC. Years ago on my trips west the station in Bend, Oregon dominated in the Pacific NW.

And I have just reached my eight-hundredth log.

790 - XESU BCN, Mexicali; Mexican National Anthem at 0002 PT 12/25 and long ID sweeper mentioning 105.9, La Dinamica. Slam-dunk ID, good for NEW #800 at 1027 miles - presumed 750 watt day power. So two new ones on Christmas Eve into Christmas Day. Awesome! Recorded this one and may upload it soon.
